Fishing Pink Salmon in Valdez, Alaska 2021, Season 2 Episode 4

Most every year we go down to Valdez to harvest some pink salmon. Most Alaskans look down on this particular species but canned pinks taste similar to tuna (my opinion), their fun to catch and there are a lot of them!

What a beautiful family! We routinely bottle fresh trout. You guys making salmon salad for sandwiches is exactly the best way to go with pink salmon. We loved this video. ❤

I worked at a hatchery out in Chenega back in the 90's. Best way to grab salmon out of the water is to use a cotton glove liner. I now live in Kodiak and you need to find a way to get more subscribers. Great content.

Yeah I bet their good smoked. We usually get a decent supply of red salmon locally so we just can the pinks. Silver season is fun but it's always right when we're hunting. There's just not enough time to do it all!

Do you have a good canned salmon recipe?

I'll have to ask Stephanie but the pink recipe is tight packed salmon and a teaspoon of canning salt, very simple but there's other ways. I like the red salmon lightly smoked, add salt and canned. I'm not real big into spicy food but a couple slices of jalapeno pepper or a dash of juice is really good too.
