I couldn't wait to get back to this lake after I found it. Having now fished it, I can't wait to fish it again!

And then I start watching your movie..... and see the wheels....🤦🤷🤣 That mist hanging around sure made for beautiful viewing!!! Man them flowers are pretty... and ALL them blueberries.... mmmmmmmm... ...and MORE beautiful flowers, well noticed!!! That BEAUTIFUL lichen!!!!!!! Quite the philosophical rant Jim. With the amount of anxiety in the world, the pandemic, the war, the rising prices, having a knowledge of what will happen, frees me from ALL the anxiety. Haven't seen your mum for a while.... or Dyl and Jiggs.... Hopefully soon. Awesome Awesome. Thank you Jim.

Two days in a row??? It’s now a good week.

Yea, I have a surplus of movies ready to go. If I was to drop another every week on top of Sunday and Wednesday, what day should it be?

@@JerseyJimFish My two cents.., I guess it would depend on what you’re trying to achieve by making your videos. Do you want to reach more people? Do you want to entertain people or teach people? Etc. I think when you do project type videos you may inspire people to tinker or try it as well. Traditionally, M-F for most, are dedicated to the work week, family responsibilities, kids, and the like. Weekends are mostly used for pursuit of hobbies and interests. So if you drop those “project” movies early in the week, you can possibly inspire some people to engage on the upcoming weekend. Just an opinion. If people are like me, I have a few different topics I follow on KZbin and other platforms, so I’m tuned in multiple times a week anyway. I know some have limited time each day to watch videos, so they tend to have days dedicated to a topic. Example: Monday is fishing, Tuesday - Hunting, Wednesday - something else. If your trying to expand your channel, you may want to pay attention to some of the analytics and see when most people engage or view. There may be an obvious answer when the best day would be based on that alone. You might even find different days for different age groups, etc. That all being said, I see a New Jersey Jim video drop, I’m usually tuned in sooner than later anyway.. because it’s usually something I equally find entertaining. So anyway works for me.

Wow. A very well thought out and intelligent answer! Thanks, I somehow stumbled on the correct person to ask! Upon contemplating your message the first paragraph is what tripped me up the most. As is customary in my life I am unsure of my goal or desired outcome (for my channel). Should it simply be a fishing channel, should I focus on cutting, cooking, touring NJ...etc. It seems the type of movies that get the most engagement are the ones that come from life experiences... while I'm speaking about past, present or future hurdles, to be, or that I have overcome. I will(have) be putting this to the test in upcoming movies in a completely organic way. The universe AGAIN had some unforseen plans for me!😆 A while back I got the comment... Anybody can catch fish. You should do more cutting videos as you're great at it. Or something to that effect. While fishing and cutting are indeed a big thing for me, and will always be the backbone of my existence, the one aspect of life I find most compelling and intriguing is our purpose. Meaning of life type thought. It's why I can't sleep more, RoadKill. I think about it near constantly, absorb everything I can on the subject and have uncovered deep thought exercises that have had profound benefits in direction and positivity. If I can share this knowledge in a coherent way with fellow fisherman in order that I may help them navigate their own personal hurdles, THAT would be the ultimate goal for my efforts on this channel. Wow, how's that conclusion for this particular thought exercise?😆😆😆 Hey, thanks again for taking the time to answer in such a way and if you have anything else to add at any time I am always open to suggestion. I'm off to go work on the fishing boat now. Have a good day RoadKill.😁

@@JerseyJimFish yeah you nailed the thought exercise. I also like the conclusion that you are honing in on..

@@JerseyJimFish I’ll add one thing that I think is relevant. You have a natural gift of what I call “ Story telling”. This is most relevant in the videos you were talking of the situation with your brother and his wife. I believe you add elements of this to your other movies as well, though not as intentional or prevalent like the previously mentioned ones. Watch the analytics of your movies, see if that holds true, beyond my initial assumption. If it does look at the age groups, you should have a good balance of the two.. why because everyone enjoys a good story. The more natural or heartfelt stories you share the more people can relate. Just as people relate to characters in books and movies. Your blend of honesty, humor, and general compassion shows through. If that “Story telling” is natural and effortless to you, that’s your talent.. go with it. Your movies can be fishing, cutting, projects… it doesn’t matter. The story is your hook brother. I’m just a guy that went through the Collingswood NJ public school system and then the Marine Corps; so take any of this insight with a grain of salt.. lol

Pickerel share your live in the moment philosophy. That's why they are so willing to destroy a paddle tail.

Sounds like a bit of LSD is still locked in your brain from 30 years ago! The previous "movie" you mentioned a "cedar lake." Last week I spent a few days in Egg Harbor Campground on two small ponds surrounded by the pine barrens. Pine barrens were special. Campground was horrible but that is another story! I fished quite a bit and only encountered a few small pickerel. The water was stained bronze. In the evening when a typical healthy body of water's surface is bubbling with life these ponds were almost motionless. My educated guess which I assure you is lacking education was that the pine needles release tannins that alter the pH of the water therefore affecting the growth of plant life, microorganisms and the fish. Or there was just too much urine from the public beach! When you spoke of the "cedar lake" do the pine trees affect the health of the body of water in the barrens? Hope you find great comfort in the new adventure! ✌️
@JerseyJimFish2 жыл бұрын
I am not the authority on such things but it is my understanding that the stained color is due to iron not tannins or pine or cedar. I have fished many very healthy cedar lakes. Union Lake for instance. Extremely full of life and "cedar".

The soil is more acidic in the Pine Barrens than other more rocky/clay based areas. This is also why so few types of plants can survive there. It is a harsh yet beautiful place. The pH of the water makes it difficult for fish other than pickerel to be able to reproduce. The eggs are delicate and do not survive the low pH
