I don't think I'm saying anything that anybody doesn't already know but you are really setting the gold standard for this type of fishing video. Your camera work along with timing and your music make this an experience that's not only enjoyable but it leaves you with a hunger for the next one. let's not forget the fish. Absolutely breathtaking . Keep it up Alex.....

Like many others, I am drawn to your channel by how well you capture the magic and majesty of cold-water streams, and, of course, the excitement of catching large trout. For some time, however, I have been conflicted between the thrill of catching fish, and not wanting to harm them. For me the high points of your wonderful videos are watching the presentation (of flies), and waiting with bated breath for the indicator to go under, or dry fly to be taken (also the drone-shot riverscapes, which for me could comprise the entire video, BTW!). These never get old. But then I fast forward through the fight, and when you hold up the fish before release, I remind myself that those sequences are shot in slo mo. I have learned a lot from your videos about minimizing harm (and much else). Increasingly, though, I fish with flies from which the end of the hook is removed (leaving about 90% of the bend intact). The intent is to retain the reward and excitement of bringing a fish to the fly, without actually hooking it, not for long anyway. This omits what for many is the best part (used to be for me too). These days, being Out There, and the challenge of presenting a fly successfully, are enough for me. To others who may have modified their approach to reduce stress and injury, I’d be interested in any views and practices to those ends.

Maybe I’ll go to those lengths one day bro and I applaud you for doing such a thing. I respect what you are doing right there as I sometimes struggle with what we do as anglers but I am still not quite ready to give up the fight and the chance to spend a moment with that fish and admire it up close before watching it swim away.

Gr8, to see you back, producing another gr8 video. Congrats on the PB bro! What an awesome trip! Can’t wait to come over to NZ sometime soon and have a crack in the rivers, very different to Tassy lakes which do have their day, particularly when hatches are happening. Thanks guys for some cool footage and fishing. Chin chin😊

Damn fine video, guys! Before Covid hit we were planning a trip to New Zealand and to do some fishing. Hopefully, things will open up so I can fish your beautiful rivers. Which island were you fishing on? My wife watched the video with me and asked why I was laughing, told her every fisherman I know that has a beauty of a fish on starts talking to the fish and themselves in some primoral ritual so they will successfully land the fish. Thanks again for posting. William Phoenix Arizona
