Dude, Cedros! You are stoked! Bucket list place... Would you ever recommend using quick clips with for iron? Why Revo over Lexa 300HD? I bought a Winn grip power handle to swap out on the Lexa 300HD...thanks for posting a vid on changing out the handle.

Why didn’t you buy the REVO toro beast? What made you choose just the REVO beast?
@WARBAITS5 жыл бұрын
I used the Toro Beast 50 and 60 for 4 years. They are the best reels I've fished for that time period. I'm fishing the Beast 40 because the size is very usable, palmable. The 50 and 60 are a little big. But I'd say each has there niche. The 50/60 have more line capacity and are lock down strong. The Beast 40 is strong and has the correct line capacity for calico bass fishing.

Hey afran! Dude I was over at Catalina on the 16th and I hooked up to a yellowtail... and I brought it up and the deckhands were about to gaff it and it dove and fought me for the bottom and it snapped my leader

Great videos, been to Cedros with Jeff once. I see that you added the split rings and new treble hooks but didn't mention an orientation for the treble hooks. You believe in that theory?
@WARBAITS5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. They need to sit tightly against the body of the bait. Honestly I didn’t pay attention, I had difficulty putting those hooks on due to the split ring pliers I had. I’ll review the orientation. Thanks for the comment!

Cool video but, doesn't putting on those heavier hooks and split rings change the action of the fishing lures? Also, isn't it better to use a lower gear ratio reel for better torque? That was one hell of battle at the end of the video. I thought your rod was going to snap.
@WARBAITS5 жыл бұрын
I'm fishing the baits fast with a snap of the reel, "rip rip pause, rip rip pause". I'm sure the action is changed a bit, but that doesn't concern me. I think there is a lot of erratic action coming from the "rip rip pause". Plus, If the hardware is not upgrade, lose fish. Gear ratio, I'd rather have a fast gear ratio on artificial presentations, fast retrieve. I use low gear ratio for live bait fishing. I'll take speed over torque and lock down the drag.

Thanks for posting this info. I'm headed to cedros weekend of the 9th. My question is about the quick clips, have you ever had any issue/lost baits or fish with them?
@WARBAITS5 жыл бұрын
Quick clip: 100% fish have been lost to the quick clip failure. I personally have never straightened out a quick clip, but have seen it happen. This is why I suggest using the strongest clip you can find. The quick clip I have in my hand in the video is rated for 200lb (not the ones featured in the box). I suggest using the strongest you can find or straight tie to the lure. For me, Quick Clip is mainly so that I can maintain the length of my leader line (3ft). You know, if I start cutting jigs off and retying, it eats leader line. With all this being said, I prefer to straight tie all my jigs. But will Quick Clip if I run multiple techniques for one rod. Hope this helps
@romeq67175 жыл бұрын
