So this is my first year I’m gonna use a centerpin, I’m using an okuma aventa on a 13ft centerpin rod with 10lb test, would this be good enough to land some kings?

I would strongly recommend upping your mainline so that you can run a minimum of 12lb leader for kings. However, anythings possible, you definitely could land one on 10

@@FishFray it would definitely be possible, but probably wouldnt work when your around a bunch of people. Sadly my rod is only rated for 4-10 lb lines so I don’t think I would be able to push in the 20 lbs like yours

I noticed there are a lot more males hooked up than females. I get that a lot too over here on skein and cranks. Not sure if the males are more aggressive and territorial or the females are further back and coming in later in the season. Great video once again, love the bobber downs and reel screams. Great start to the season for you, Fray.

It's the aggression in the male salmon. You know how they're constantly looping around holes biting at the other males and trout? Same idea with spinners, cranks. When it comes to skein I'd say it's about equal for hits in my experience both in Ontario and out in BC

Hello I am a student at MTU and am wondering about different baits. I have never salmon fished before and am wondering what casting baits like spinners or cranks work for the fall run. I only use arctic spinners for king salmon! For cohos I will throw a #3 mepps

Your “buddy” Ryan was keeping, taking the eggs, and then dumping the fish in the woods at river 2 launch. Don’t believe go look at the carcasses in the woods to the right of the boat ramp if your facing the river. He was also running about a 15 foot set in a hole that was no deeper then 8 ft with a 6 ft trailer to a hook with nothing on it off his skein, just your average discount guide doing discount guide things.

@@FishFray I didn’t take a pic of the dead fish, but next time I’m there I will. He had 3 hens on stringer that were chrome when he passed us, then as we got back to the launch we heard what sounded like logs being thrown in the bushes. But, once I got up to it I found him curing the row without a cooler or fish carcass in sight. He was also parked in the center of the turn around for the launch and I could barely fit by him, once he left my buddy went and looked where we heard the sounds and saw the carcass barely covered up.

Damn Frey, awesome video. You're right they bite; you have to put in the work. Salmon/ Steelhead fishing is as addicting as it gets. They absolutely will kick your butt. Check your gear, make sure everything is right and tied right. When you hook one it hurts if you lose it because something wasn't right. Hope to see you out and about in the coming weeks!!
