I used to live in Euless, TX, but had to move back to South Africa in June. Recently found out there are some bodies of water here that hold some big ol Largies. As soon as I can get back on my feet and afford my rods n stuff (with having to move back, I was forced to give everything I had to a close friend).

So we here in the densely populated Southern California region have a ton of ponds just like this. Most have a crap ton of micro shad and a few have crawdads/crayfish. The vast majority of them are also concrete all the way around as well as the bottom. Most are dyed either this same blue or dark green, all have another grass! And in a lot of them since there isn’t much natural structure on the bottom the tend to just hug the bank quite often. I throw jigs a lot, A LOT, and it’s the most consistent lure. Everything else is a crap shoot!

Definitely the blue man group pond 😂
@Diresword887 ай бұрын
The pond in my grandfather's 55+ community is exactly as your friend described. I've fish it for a good 15 years and for the longest time they never dyed it and I could catch quality fish in there with my biggest near 8lbs (this is in Florida). About 6-7 years ago, the park started dying it and I noticed the quality of fish start to decrease. I went there to fish a few weeks ago and caught 10-11 fish within my first 15-20 casts, but almost all of them were like 0.5 lbs to 1lb. I ended up catching like 25 bass that day with the biggest being like 1.5lbs.

Pond dye is commonly used to help mitigate some algae and plant issues. It does also negatively impact the base of the food chain, phytoplankton, so it is limits the productivity of your water. You can see the results in how underweight those bass were.

Yeah my father in law put some in his pond because they couldn't control the weeds (completely choking it out) and now we have the opposite problem. Pond is deader than a doornail.

What would you recommend to throw when theres allot of blue gill and sun fish for the bass to eat in a pond, but the bass are scared of any lure and just swim to the bottom when they see it

Where are the best public ponds you’ve been to in Dallas And what are they called?
@omalysiragusa97477 ай бұрын
I was actually wondering if you can help me with a retrieval that I can use for bladed jigs I love throwing a crankbait because of the burn pause method and the bait will somewhat stay suspended or float back up. We know bladed jigs will sink quickly what can I do to increase my bites with a retrieve that keeps me in the strike zone?
@elijahsoczka69967 ай бұрын
Is the water always blue there? I'm wondering if the forage fish got a collective disease and died off so they added methylene blue as a disinfectant/anti-fungal. The pond is small enough that it's probably treated like a huge aquarium.
@EnginerdNate6 ай бұрын
It's usually done for vegetation control in residential ponds like that. People don't like to see "weeds".

Hello Tyler, so I’ve been watching your KZbin videos for a good while now because I’ve been fishing for a long time but I’ve always struggled with knowing if I’m using the right combos . so as of right now, I have two bait casters. Both of them are on 7 foot medium heavy fast action rods. One of the bait casters is a 7.8:1 and the other is a 6.1:1. I mainly use the 7.8:1 for soft baits like worms and I also use it for jigs. I use the 6.1:1 for basically everything else like hard plastics. So really I just want to know if I’m using those two rods for the right thing or if maybe I need to switch it up and then I was also curious as to what kind of combo do you think I should purchase next? Also, both of my bait casters are on 15 pound mono.

How about a polarized lens on your chest go pro? (if that actually exists) I've seen very blue water in Jersey, and it is an algicide chemical added to the water. Harmless to fish... so I've been told. I watched it to the end now... not promising.
