I love to see this trouts jump 3ft above the water, really cool experience, i didn't expect to hook that much in a day

Pretty sure it's illegal in the bow river to fish with barbed hooks. I may be wrong tho. I've always pinched the barb regardless, especially if it's just catch and release. 😉

If tail has bump or weird shape probably because of whirling disease as this thing has been in Bow river years that's the reason catch and release last 5-6 years. Also this river get worse each year, dirts and junks in the river as people and government don't take care of the environment in the city. I moved to BC, I noticed rivers are clean here and it's hard to pick up dirts with fishing hook, so I enjoy casting, and fishes look more healthier here.

Sorry, Kevin. You're wrong. Treble hooks are allowed. Barbs are allowed. You should read the regulations more closely before telling people about them. Also keep in mind that what you knew last year may not be the case in the new year. The rules on barbs changed about two years ago. They were relatively hush hush about it, but if you read the regs for 2018 and 2019, there is no mention of having to use barbless. As for treble hooks, the regs state that you are not allow to use MORE THAN three hooks per line. Making a single treble hook lure completely legal.

@@josephine6602 Correct. A lot of his lures used 6 hooks which is not allowed. Honest mistake, but now that you know you should not use 6 anymore. Also, barbed hooks are allowed, but if you are going to release them you may as well pinch the barbs, otherwise their mouths will get all torn up which is hard on the fish. Way likelier that the fish will die if you're spending the time trying to get the barb out.

You're fine with those lures (at least the ones I took notice of), a treble hook is considered a single hook with three points on a common shaft, as opposed to three separate hooks. This point is kind of hidden in the definitions section of the regs. Also, four points is usually considered two hooks with two points each, so be aware of that. Usually around late September you can see the big browns spawning from the Peace Bridge upstream from where you're fishing. Really cool sight.

@@skyiswomb1 That's incorrect, a treble hook is considered one hook because it is connected at a single shaft. If you look in the regs it's in there, I've also talked to F&W about it. So you could really use a lure with 3 trebles if you wanted.

If you get any rapala lures or live target lures with rainbow trout or brown trout pattern im sure you’ll get them there. You just need to move around and cast to find where the fish are.
