@@newflyfishingodyssey how so? This will be my first time steelheading, was in Shasta fishing alpine lakes near MT. Eddy and fished the upper Sac this past summer, awesome stuff and want to go back, Bay Area kid btw. I only have a 9ft 6wt and no sinking tip, would this suffice for bank fishing Steelies?

There wasn’t much water last year. I’m no expert by any means. But unless you are trying to get a chromed out one at the mouth, they pretty much fish like regular rainbows. So you can nymph for them. Whether you find one and hook up is where it’s up to the fates. Good luck.

I've only been twice and around early Spring. Not times floating. I've seen wading in there but not really sure where the access roads are. Could try giving the fly shop in Redding a call
