Fishing the West Fork Blacks Fork River, Utah

The West Fork of the Blacks Fork River flows north for 16 miles thru northern Utah's Uintah Mountains. Some have described the valley through which flows the West Fork as one of the most scenic in all of Utah. I wouldn't disagree. A forest road follows much of the stream and if you have a high clearance vehicle you can follow it as it crosses the West Fork to the upper sections. Some nice cutthroats can be found here but most of the fish are modest sized brook trout with an occasional whitefish. The elevation here is over 10,000' so be prepared for unpredictable weather.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. It is always great to view your videos. Thank you for filming in my home state of Utah. The Uintahs are known for the brook trout and lots of them. I will try the Blacks Fork this spring. I have extended family in Iron County MI, it is great to see your videos of rivers I fished while visiting family. Do you fish lakes? I know a lake in Iron River MI you should try.

I live in central NY, we have awesome trout fishing streams including West Canada Creek and dozens of smaller streams on Tug Hill Plateau and Adirondacks. Highly recommend you explore this area someday!

I will be really excited to see your videos from this area. I do not want to steer you in the wrong direction by providing misinformation. I am a newer angler and do not know the best time of year to make the trip. An educated guess on my part would be similar times as Vermont as we are relatively close by. I am excited to try out your spinner/spoon with a fly technique. Thank you for creating this channel, I have learned a lot!

A 1/16th oz Daredevle in color red with a yellow stripe down the middle is one of my favorite lures for trout. I've caught a lot of nice fish on that, including a 21" brown. I get them from the Daredevle.com website. Be careful to get the trout model.

The East Fork tends to produce more fish than the West Fork where we fished it. Further downstream on the E.F. the action is not so good.
