Lots of good mangrove snapper fishing from the kayak midday. Go gulf side and find deep undercut mangroves with current. Use cut pinfish. Also you can anchor 4 to 6 feet deep on the outside edge of ocean side flats and chum for bones if you buy some shrimp. Through a few chopped up shrimp in a compact area that has some sand.

... this is a one good example of proper animal husbandry, that we can all learn from, when it comes to fishing and recording the activity. This is how is properly done, not to keep the fish for too long at all out the water, and record quickly, and return it back in a minimum time, so the fish would not suffer almost any deoxygenation damages, and similar, from the too long exposure outside the water. It's also a very good example for how to properly handle the fish and return them back in a minimum possible time, when the recording is taking the place. Basically it's where so many people will do wrong, and keep the fish (they are not taking away) outside of water for too long. So, in too many such cases it will only die, very soon shortly after released. Our sincere thanks for applying a such a high standard of care, and sportsmanship, and this is an example of the sportsman / sportsman team, that every country can only desire to have around their own shores. As we ourselves are the occasional-enough fishermen ourselves, and always apply such the best practices, remaining the fans of the videos and channel, from the day one: keep'em coming, while there is a lot to learn form these videos, by FishAholic - and that: in every sense :).

I go to that first spot you went and fish every year that I hit up the timeshare I got in Marathon for lobster season. I wouldn’t recommend using a top water focusing on the small bit of shallow water edge there, I’m not surprised you didn’t get any bites for a half hour. What that place is now is a popular dive spot because it gets about 35ft deep in the middle, it’s a man made I guess place to bring in boats back in the day? Whatever it was dug out for there I do know there are some BIG fish in that little pit, talkin huge mackerel, tarpon, barracuda prowling the top and middle column of the open water with snapper/grouper being on the bottom. There’s a hard drop off all the way around the rough square shape of the pit and that can also be fished effectively for decent sized grunts/snapper along it. The shallow water portion of the area doesn’t last long it’s only about say 20yds across, the real action is that pit. The best recommendation is walk along the left side of the rock “wall” it’s shallow there and go down around 100yds and get a chum block to float it out in front of you. I put my bait and gear on the rocks behind me and the chum will bring all the snapper/grunts/etc in and while the small fish gather at the top the larger fish eat the large chunks of fish chum the small fish can’t eat. Those fish are the ones you target with some big live or fresh dead bait. Me and a buddy caught a cooler full, constant action, I even caught a massive mutton snapper for inshore standards. I don’t know of any other place that close to shore that has such massive tarpon (other than around docks of course) along with huge barracuda/ maybe cero mackerel? Swimming I could see them underwater and they were HUGE. Enough to make me feel uncomfortable being in that water lol. At the same time plenty of divers were coming up saying there was tons of large grouper/snapper/and small lobster on the bottom in the middle. I highly recommend that spot to anyone, and go fish it all afternoon/morning. It’s a magical spot for someone who only has access to a kayak going down initially and anyplace there feet could take them. I’d say that spot is probably the best in the keys, it’s damn sure my favorite! I was so excited to see you start with that spot I even showed my wife like “look babe that was the spot I’ve told you stories about!”. I wish you would’ve had some action there and we could’ve seen some more content. It really brought me back seeing you park, walk down the path, and cast towards the mangoes/rocks exactly the same way I did for my first cast (:
