Alright the last pretty day proved to be pretty epic. Got out there early and started trolling plugs. Landed some spanish mackerel and false albacore. Switching it up from there to drop jigs for some impressive fish and a BIG surprise!

I'll have to try one of those lures for Spanish next time I'm on the East coast. I got a bunch of them in the lower 20"s last summer on clarkspoon wounded shad. The Renosky mirror image paddle shad swimbaits also got hammered into oblivion by Spanish off the piers last time I was in NC, only issue was that they get destroyed after 1-2 fish. Using one of those swimbaits as a teaser above a lead jig produced a ton of bites, but got bit off a lot.

Natural Forage, been making that color for six months. Has more of a silver tail vs the ghost mullet which is a pale gray.

You work your drag quite a bit during a fight, sometimes pulling out line, even when the fish is pretty far from the boat. You trust your own pull more than say, the sound of the line being pulled out or is it something else?

I tend to drop a lot of mackerel due to over tightening drag. I also popped that redfish due to over tight drag most likely. So I was more paranoid than normally this day.
