Great video, you touched on an important note and I'd like to clarify. As of now the flounder limit is the same as last year, 4 fish per person creel limit. They will finalize the limitations in Aug and have proposed changing the creel limit to 1 fish per person. Also a "slot" for flounder has been proposed similar to the drum to prevent harvesting the larger fish. There has been talk of managing the the different species in different ways but this has always come with much resistance. Please contact the NC Wildlife department to have your voice heard on the subject. Once regulations are established they are very difficult to reverse. I think conservation is important but I try hard to feel my family on fish year round that I can catch, seems like a more sustainable way to eat meat than meat farms. Also seems less harmful to the ocean to catch one fish at a time with little to no bi-catch and no effect on the habitat.

1 fish flounder limit? That's crazy.
@jonathane9843 жыл бұрын
For some reason, North Carolina still has a massive commercial flounder fishery. Marine Fisheries scientist data shows 70-80% of flounder harvest over the last 20 years is commercial harvest. Yet they want to limit us rec anglers to 1 fish a day in a 45ish day season. Makes perfect sense right?
@dylanzrim36353 жыл бұрын
@@jonathane984 having the same issues here in Australia. A commercial netter got mad and posted a photo of an artificial reef caught in his net, couldn’t understand why everyone ridiculed him for being the guy that’s dragging tonnes of fabric and lead along the sea floor
@dylanzrim36353 жыл бұрын
Apparently recreational fishermen putting artificial reefs into the ocean are ruining their catch.... wouldn’t put it past Antifa to do something like that to stop a commercial fisho in his own wake, and make rec’ fishos look real bad in the process.

A lot of it is experience, "feeling" the bite, hook set, ect. And A lot is luck or time on the water. Example, i grew up with my buddy that could limit out on salmon on the Chicago power plant output (heated water that was used to cool the reactor) and I never hooked up with One frigging fish standing next to him using the same fly. 20 years later and I live in Florida, he came sheepshead fishing with me, he didn't hook a one and I limited out.. in the same boat, using the same crabs. Practice my friend and time on the water. Good luck bro.
