Fishing w/ LIVE MINNOWS (Live Bait)

We are fishing with LIVE MINNOWS / LIVE BAIT for some crappie and possibly other species such as bass, hybrids, and panfish! Live minnows are probably the best all around live bait besides a red worm so I went out to the lake to see what winter fish wanted to bite a live minnow on the end of my fishing line!

If you’re ever in the right place, I’d pick up a medium light rod with a 2500 size reel, spool it up with 10lb braid, attach a 6-8lb fluoro leader, and use this setup for walleye! The only thing I’d change is I’d switch to the northland fishing tackle fireball jigheads in the 1/8 oz size

Lol. You're setting the hook too hard on those crappies. They have paper lips. Sometimes a slight-ish medium hook set will rip the mouth of the crappie.
