The perfect set-up for Perch fishing Trophy size Perch seldom exceed 2-pounds most mature fish are 10 to 12-inches long. They will eat all types and sizes of lures, small minnow swimbaits are perfect for clear cold water. BFS tackle has advantages that spinning gear doesn’t. More casts per minute, easier accurate casting and better control of hooked fish. BFS tackle makes fishing for panfish more fun for anglers that prefer using baitcasting reels.

indeed! and i hate them line twists u get from casting UL lures on spinning gear. can't seem to ever evade them! other day my braided line got a wind knot and it was done! lost like part of the spool... which means less casting distance. terrible :( but anyway, love BFS and the perch is definitely hawt bite! gonna try again soon.

@@rawrfishing The other day I tried using the same braid I use on my BFS reels on a 10½-foot ultralight-spinning rod drifting jigs on a small river for trout using a float and fly rig. I used a 2-pound 8’ leader and it worked perfect. I tied the braid to a small swivel and tied the leader on to other end. The bright colored braid floats and fluorocarbon sinks. It makes a great drifting set up. I had no problems with wind knots. The reel was a size 2,000 and a little smaller than I will use next time. I didn’t catch any trout but did catch two keeper Walleyes and couple Smallmouth. Walleye are as tasty as Perch only bigger. They might have been Hybrid Saugeyes but both were safely past the 15” keeper size. I know they tasted good whatever they were.

@@gizmocarr3093 yeah i think some setups will tend to twist more than others. clearly my short 6 foot rod and a 1k reel will :P I only have caught one eye in my life up on the delaware water gap this summer while floating down on a canoe w/ the wife. makes me wanna take the kayak there one day to catch some more :)

@@rawrfishing The Susquehanna River around Harrisburg is loaded with them clear to the New York line. The first ones I caught were below the Conowingo Dam. Looks like The Delaware River is the best place for you. Look for them in the rapids and tail waters. They feed much like trout and most people never find out because they don’t fish places they feed. Walleye in rivers are in their natural habitat. They are beautifully colored and stronger fighters than Lake Walleyes. The reason anglers don’t consider them strong fighting fish is they listen to people that never fished for them much. If you take a lake charter trip they catch most of them with tackle to heavy and in deep water where they are dragged up behind the boat that never stops moving. However, think of what a 5-pound Perch would fight like is what to expect fishing for river Walleyes. There is a new challenge to add to your list.
