How long was the trip from bodega to tomales bay on boat?
@fishingaddict56384 жыл бұрын
It took me 20 mins running at 30 mph.

It was 7am when we took the run and it was actually good condition.

Your wife said you had live bait also. I believe she said anchovies. Where did you pick up the live bait. I am chomping at the bits to go to Tomales Bay but My wife does not want me to run in salt water. I am still working on that. Why did you launch at Bodega Bay? I thought Miller launch was open??
@fishingaddict56384 жыл бұрын
We went on Sunday. Tomales was not open so we had to launch out of westside in bodega bay. We caught the bait in the bay. You can run in salt as long as you clean you boat very good afterwards.

Outstanding example of our diverse fishery here in NorCal and maximizing the versatility of your boat and motor. Very impressive...and tasty results, too! As is usually the case, your successful vids leave me wondering about certain aspects of your outings...thus my reason for posing so many questions to which you have always graciously responded. So here goes again. From a maintenance perspective, how safe is it to operate your trolling motor in saltwater? Also, it seemed you used live bait to catch your halibut this trip. As such, what is your technique for finding and catching live bait (smelt I assume) in Tamales Bay? What bait did you use in your crab pots and how does the taste of rock/red crab differ from Dungeness crab? As always, thank you!
@fishingaddict56384 жыл бұрын
The trolling motor needs to be rinse/cleaned out really good. Or the white colored Minn Kota trolling motors ones salt water approved. Live bait, Anchovies are in the bay. As you're trolling around you'll see schools of anchovies around. Just drop a sabiki rig. You might even get some smelt while going for anchovies. We used chicken and salmon head for the crabs. It seemed to be equally even with catches. The red crab is not as meaty as the Dungeness but it is sweet. We don't care for the rock crab.

Hey love the videos i wad lookin for any advice you have for exiting and entering tomales bay i have a 18 ft klamath was gonna try saturday
@fishingaddict56384 жыл бұрын
This weekend is really windy. I would not attempt it. You really need a fish finder with contour of the bay. There are shallow sand bars I’ve seen people get stuck in. But essentially you need to hug the left bank as you’re exiting. If you do go just take it slow. Good luck.

Thank you i do have a gps fishfinder How bad you think its gonna be in the tomales bay i got a drift sock was gonna go for hali
@fishingaddict56384 жыл бұрын
Let me put it this way. I wanted to go also, but I’m not going there because it’s too windy for me. I’m sure you can manage ok in the bay but I would not recommend going out of the bay.
@MaPee19824 жыл бұрын
@@thomasbagala9580 Wind is kicking in at 21 mph this Saturday. Doesn't seem like much but in the ocean, that is significant. Are sure you wanna get caught out in the ocean side in these type of wind?
