I have only recently, since early May, begun fishing more intensely for fun with my brother and also my dad. My dad is 77 and for a while he and I did not do a whole lot of stuff together. Since I started fishing here recently, me and my dad have now been going fishing several times a week together, got some new rods and reels, and now we are closer than ever and have made so many new memories. I am definitely still in the learning stages of fishing, especially learning about lures, reels, and baits. My go to lure would be a weedless hook with 1/8 oz bullet weight and wacky rig with green pumpkin senko! I'm sure these rods would be a nice addition in helping me get better with learning the feel of fish on all types of lures. Meanwhile, on the Fourth I smoked 3 racks of ribs, a 10 pound pork butt, a 7 pound pork loin, and about 30 pieces of lime marinated chicken thighs!

Just started fishing recently so far anything that has gotten a bite is real nightcrawlers lol so up till now thats my favorite all though i like casting crankbates i just love it for some reason lol. Hayse Nature Preserve has been my got too spot and last Tuesday caught my first Large Mouth Bass and my fist PB. So excited for fishing cant wait to go back again. You know, it's kind of strange. I've been fishing since I could hold a rod and reel in my hand and I've never really liked fishing with soft lures. I would always fish early mornings or late evening with topwater, or fish during the heat of the day with deep diving crank baits or rattle traps (or a rooster tail, which is basically cheating!). But last summer, when I couldn't seem to catch a fish to save my life, I tried my father's tried and true go-to lure. A weightless, wacky rigged, green (or blue depending on water clarity) Senko worm (or equivalent). As someone who has tried plastic worm fishing with little success due to impatience, this was a GAME CHANGER. It's now my go-to rig if nothing is biting, especially during the upcoming dog days of summer. I would love to win the rod, even if I'm ages behind this rig! Keep on fishing brother!
