I used these with the Team Catfish weight slides to make a kzbin.infoUgkxdmsDj7fQXe77DC0l7P7ua8B3PiESUubM Carolina rig and they were perfect for the ponds I fish. I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.

Your mold could have been heated more before pouring so your sinkers would not have so many wrinkles. This was a really great idea for making your own sinker mold. Thanks for the video!

Also adding linotype to the lead or tin. More important on bullet molds of course but having pretty sinkers is nice too!

Yep. This video is AWESOME. :) I stopped short of making my own custom molds for jig heads, because the mold "blanks" were just as expensive as the dang finished molds. Lol NOW? I just learned how to make unlimited mold blanks for super cheap, super fast. 👌 AND, it's gonna be the same/same for plastic bait molds! Sweet! Thank you!

Wax makes a very nice lube for working with aluminum, either drilling or tapping holes and it is cleaner then liquid lubes.

You can use two flute high speed end mills for aluminum. Wd-40 is the best thing I’ve used when cutting it. You could also use some sort of saw to put pry slots on the corners in case it sticks

You could press them in using a "C" clamp with a large enough throat opening to press the stainless steel rod into the blocks. You may need to use a piece of hollow steel rod over the clamp handle to increase the leverage to turn the screw and press the rod intl the blocks.

Awesome DIY VIDEO 👍👍. I make my line holes, the same diameter a plastic candy stick. Cut a length 3mm longer than the weight, push through the line hole. And mushroom them over, with a lighter. As it helps with the weight running, up & down, without chaffing your line. As that is how most, in-line Carp weight are especially in-line feeder weights. A small half Oz in-lines are awesome, when fishing for trout with doe-bait 🎣😃👍

I was going to do mine, when I get around to it,with a drill bit but I forgot about the end mill bits.....making a trip to the garage to dig some out now....lol Those pull pins,if you take a rag/towel and oil it they'll come out of the egg easier. Doesn't matter what oil you use,I just use one of the extra bottles of air tool oil I bought after misplacing 3 others....after 5-6 pours in a Do-it mold I'll run the pin across the towel with the oil. If you could wobble the bit just a hair before you finish boring the cavity it'll let it angle outwards towards the center and the eggs should pretty much just fall out when mold is pulled apart. Might be best to do when press is off and just twist the chuck by hand, shouldn't take much to angle it just a hair. Could also use the end mill bit in the press to make the mold as Do-it does. Will take a lil more time and patience though.

not that it matters on a diy sinker, but if you heat up the mold more it will form better. The weird edges on the casting are due to low mold temp

I make the moulds for my cast net weights using bondo. There are several tutorials on yt on how to make them. And yes, the bondo can withstand the heat of molten lead just fine. Also, if you really want aluminum and dont have the tools and stuff, lee moulds (they sell moulds for casting bullets) can sell you a blank mould with locating pins and handles. All you do is some drilling and shaping your “pattern”.

I might take this route to make moulds for casting heavy lead for my slingshot….I’m running a double band set (1.25” no taper TBG) and it’s HEAVY to draw. 1/2” steel doesn’t absorb enough of the energy of my bands, and the hand slap is terrible as a result.

Clean the mold with a combustible break cleaner, usually the cheap wal mart brand, scrub with soap and water. It will get the oil out of the aluminum and heat well enough wrinkles the wrinkles go away. Spray graphite will be a great mold release agent.
