Strongest Fish in the World (Pound for Pound)

In this episode, I head down to my local wharf/pier in the Port Hacking River, Sydney Australia with a couple of buddies to get my pre-work fishing fix! I didn’t have much time to fish, so this video is spread over 2 sessions using soft plastics & live prawns to target Yellowtail Kingfish, Australian Salmon & Silver Trevally on light gear. The weather changed dramatically over the days I was fishing from sun to rain and everything in between however the fishing remained consistent. Super stoked to smash my personal best silver trevally not once, but twice over the days fishing and aren’t they strong! Possibly the strongest fish in the world pound for pound?

Hey bro, I know this was a while ago but when you were fishing that 2.5 inch plastic how were you working it?

Hey mate, so yup was using the Shimano Biotough 2.5 Fish plastic. Its essentially a paddle tail, I find most my hits for trevallies occur when I cast, wait until my goes close to the bottom from there I do a very slow retrieve just enough for the paddle tail to activate, then i do a slow hop 1 or 2 times then let it sink sink a little then repeat the process. Most of the time it gets hit on the fall or straight after the hop. Hope that helps.

Hey man, glad you enjoyed. Targeting these guys go 6-8lb leader size 1-1/0 hook and used cubed pilchards or prawns unweighted (no sinker) that will move nice and slowly down into their region of the water column. :)

When the fish hit the soft plastic, does it feel like a pull or a tick in the rod?

Generally it hits hard, you hookset and your good to go! Sometimes you can feel them nibbling their tail before committing, keep the lure going and they generally hit again :)
