Omg :( I had no idea. Heartbreaking! I haven't fished with him in years as I stopped fishing the piers. But I sure had some great memories with him fishing with him over the course of a year at the piers. He was an absolute gun and a gentleman. He will not be forgotten, god rest his soul RIP Val. <3

Hi There Can i ask how long do you make your FC leader? FG or PF Knot? Do you have your Knot just outside the top guide? or down thru guides of the rod Thank you
@FishingwithMarkiMark
@FishingwithMarkiMark 4 ай бұрын
Hey mate, I run an FG knot. The total length would be about 1.5 my rods length. I start the leader between my rods first two guides from the bottom of my rod. Eventually it gets smaller due to damage and I trim it along the way :).

Hey bro, I know this was a while ago but when you were fishing that 2.5 inch plastic how were you working it?
@FishingwithMarkiMark
@FishingwithMarkiMark 4 ай бұрын
Hey mate, so yup was using the Shimano Biotough 2.5 Fish plastic. Its essentially a paddle tail, I find most my hits for trevallies occur when I cast, wait until my goes close to the bottom from there I do a very slow retrieve just enough for the paddle tail to activate, then i do a slow hop 1 or 2 times then let it sink sink a little then repeat the process. Most of the time it gets hit on the fall or straight after the hop. Hope that helps.

is it ok to use 60g jiggs on shore?
@FishingwithMarkiMark
@FishingwithMarkiMark 4 ай бұрын
Yes, certainly. Also depends on the fall rate of the jig, what your targeting and the depth of water your fishing. You'd rather allow the jig to suspend more time in the strike zone of the fish your targeting and you will reduce fatigue of jigging on yourself.

Hey man, honestly anything under 75cm you'll be able to dead lift on 20lb. You can definitely play it safe and have a bit more confidence on 30lb. Generally the lighter you go the more hookups... but could be more heartbreaks haha!

@@DariusFishing Hey man I wind on about 6m+ of leader onto my spool when fishing the piers. It gives me added abrasion resistance from the pylons. Sunrise I put the float stopper about 3m or so. As the day progresses I find the kingfish go deeper and adjust my float stop so that my bait holds deeper too. Hope that helps.

Hey there,… these are the newest jigs for the surf and they’re awesome…! I usually attach the assist hooks to a solid stainless ring & a double split ring and I attach the leader line to the solid ring… reason being is … your assist hook can and will eventually work its way off the split ring and the attachment loop on the lure is not that string… so if you happen to lose your lure… your still secured from leader line to solid ring… no loss of fish…! Tight lines …👍😎🤙
@FishingwithMarkiMark
@FishingwithMarkiMark 11 ай бұрын
Great insight, It's always something I've been worried about in the back of my mind, but haven't faced this issue.. yet aha! I have done that attachment in the past straight to solid ring, but it can be annoying when changing over to another jig. I've been using Shout split rings and they have been great, If I feel like they have lost their rigidity because of opening and closing a lot I'll change it over to a new split ring :) Great tip mate!

@FishingwithMarkiMark
@FishingwithMarkiMark Жыл бұрын
Id throw a bait on, open bail, put a rubber band on the bottom half of a rod and tuck the line into the rubber band. When a fussy/timid fish takes the bait or live bait, it doesn't feel the tension. I let him eat/swallow the bait, close the bail, hook set and start fighting the fish on my terms. He wont know he's hooked until your ready. I do have some other vidoes on youtube where i explain the method, just not sure on what video it was. Cheers!
