Love how in almost every review, Nick reminds Joseph of events that happened in Joseph's life, like movies he's seen, and Joseph responds with complete delighted surprise. LOL

I second that as well. To this day I cannot fathom how people can have something like jellied eels...that tin drum eel scene still makes my stomach churn..and I saw that in the early 80s as a kid

It struck me funny this morning how the premise "Premise: During a harsh winter in the 19th century, inhabitants at a remote coastal outpost witness a shipwreck." leads right into your usual next line, "Want to send them stuff?" Yes. I would like to send some pocket hand warmers and canned chili to these poor folks.

@Fish Jelly Film Reviews this sounds terrifying and intriguing. I LOVED Nosferatu but this sounds like something I'll think about afterwards. "CREEPY" is how I know Joseph was actually scared. 😆 🤣 😂 😹

I'm adding it to the list. Joe Cole really shines when given the right material, like in his Black Mirror episode Hang The DJ. The story has some of Lovecraft's The Shadow over Innsmouth vibes. Thanks guys.

Just thinking about your review (since I haven't yet seen it) it sounds really well crafted. Honestly, I'm like, "What would I do?"--especially having to make a decision where others lives are at stake and there's a time limit on processing that decision (as a writer, I like the tension of an actively sinking ship). And that's why, I guess, we have survival instincts that kick in, but then, we still have to survive ourselves if we make what we perceive to be the wrong choice. It makes me think of how some people believe mental illness isn't real despite its ability to destabilize and claim lives. Like when people hear the word "survival" people usually limit meaning to physical well-being. So, ultimately, was she successful at her job in protecting her people? I think the title fits well here compared to other films, like it makes sense. After hearing more of the story, I thought of "Damned if you, damned if you don't." So far, when it comes to human moral dilemmas, I think the film that has stuck with me the most is "The Mist". I'll be adding this one on my movie list! 😁 Thank you

Plus, the people at the fishing 🎣 outpost were "damned" to a virtual hell on earth and haunted for their choice.

Thanks for the timely review gents!! I saw a matinee of this yesterday and was pleasantly surprised, I really enjoyed it. As always, U2 left me in stitches, even though the review was done with minimal shade... was surprised to see Rupert Everett as "Helga" 💀. Helga was the creepiest of the core characters, plus she was the one telling the boys the horrific bedtime story... did she really plant the seeds and bring the evil there?!? I don't trust her! 😅

Happy New Year to the 2 guys with the best, in depth, humorous study of the global cinema. The level of intelligence and insight is amazing….,.Joe is a handsome diva-ish guy and Nick is the astute passionate scholar . I will say I struggled coming up with 10 films I liked….. my taste is eclectic and offbeat at times. I insist on going to the actual theater experience. We all have flatscreens which are miles above what came before. I love getting lost in a 70 mili/IMAX world.
