Why aren’t these in the states yet? Haven’t found a single lick of info on it

Not sure if really like it. The wedge is flat 30° how do you sharpen that ? Only way is sharpen say 17° per side, make a small micro bevel

I also have every size of chopping ax and splitting mall that Fister makes. The X32 looks interesting. My x25 is my go to. As you stated the X25 is shorter than the X27. I am 5’8” inches tall and find the X25 is a perfect fit for me. The X27 is made for someone 6 foot or taller. And you are correct. It is interesting that they are going back to a wedge that was used 20 years ago.

Fiskars are brilliant I have many and never complained about then razor sharp and 30° edge.
@woodbutcheruk21 күн бұрын
what is putting me off the Gen 5 is when you need to eventually resharpen you would need to grind the whole face to maintain the 30degree. whereas the Gen 4 would only need to grind the bevel.

Makes you wonder why they did that. I would sharpen maybe 2° more per side. So I would end up with 34° wedge. Also you would need a new fiakars ceramic roller sharpener. The old one is set at 30° and the whole wedge rubs in the plastic v slot now

I hope someday you will try the Cellfast brand axes, which are manufactured here and clearly cheaper than Fiskars in our stores. I see that it appears in some Australian stores, but unfortunately the price difference is not as pronounced as here.

If they were here I would buy one. Must look them up

@@ChainsawUsers I'm afraid they have no real distribution in Australia. Their axes show up in 2 online stores. Probably this is an unofficial import. Amazon also sells their products, but the axes only show up there occasionally.

@elpolaco7654 I have seen them advertised here. It's interesting, Fiskars stated making polyamide Fibreglass handles in the 90s, I have a splitting axe from 2006 and the blade width was 87mm Generation 3 I think. Then Generation 4 came along, the blade not as wide 80mm. Now Generation 5 has gone back to 87mm wide blade. I really see no benefit. Like chainsaws it maybe a marketing thing to improve sales.

Howdy! Splitting Oz red gum (or tough coast live oak) in CA, the fiskars except the big 8lb always seemed to just get stuck. I don’t care for them except in smaller or easier splitting stuff. I was excited to see the X32 and am now disappointed to hear it’s not much different/better. Same with the husqvarna spitter. Another deficiency for all of them IMO is the small poll. No good for plastic wedges. They *could* be so much more useful. Oh well, I’ll stick with my classier classic wooden handles. 😁🤙🏻 You might like my recent vid on wedges and their bangers. Little Oz for ya. BTW, do you feel the cyclone polished axe is worth a hoot?

At $70 it's worth it. I reprofiled itlike I do on all axes mauls ect. Most have poor set angles from factory

The X32 may work in better wood but I have no evidence of that. It's Generation 5 now maybe some small differences buy I can't pick it yet.

I can’t find any x32 in California. Anyone know where to order?

How you ever wondered why the standard measurement system is called Standard and not metric?
@ChainsawUsers2 ай бұрын
The degree, symbol °, is a non-SI unit of plane angle accepted for use with the SI. By definition, one degree is equal to 1⁄360 of a turn, or π⁄180 radians.

When referring to the degree of somethings angle, why haven't you guys came up with a metric degree ? Still using the standard huh?

I bought mine (x32) a couple of weeks ago, my first splitting axe, so I can't compare, but i quite like it splitting ironbark.
