I want to confirm this is a thing. Last week after about weeks of no bleeding, I had a really bad bleed after a bowl movement. A couple short days later I'm feeling better than I have since before the fissure! I can't explain what the blood was but I'm guessing a bowel movement knocked the scap off the healing wound and it bled. Just like if you scrape a scab off a cut on your arm, it'll bleed a little but it doesn't mean the wound itself opened back up!!

Doctor, I’ve suffer from this anal fissure for over 17 years. It doesn’t hurt at all, but I bleed a lot. Last year, March 2022, I had to go to the emergency room due to collapsing in a basketball game. I ended up getting a blood transfusion. The fissure was bleeding a lot more after I received my first and only Covid vaccination ( the two shot one). I kept thinking I’m okay due to blood regeneration. But I had syptoms , cold hands, cold feet and pica( I kept eating coffee grounds!). After my emergency room visit, I saw my primary doctor and I told her I used nitroglycerin in the pass and it helped control the bleeding, so she prescribed it. Also when I’m on penicillin,due to some virus, my bleeding would stop as well. I’ve been taking nitroglycerin since I had the emergency room visit and I still bleed from time to time. Not as bad as before. What would you recommend? My primary doctor said surgery, but are there any other treatments that can be done to finally heal this hell hold permanently?

Thanks for all you do. Very helpful. I am confused about sitz baths. In some videos you say they are not a good because sitting on the toilet for extended time is never good….gravity. In other videos you say they are good for relaxing sphincter. Also are all hemorrhoids due to tight sphincter muscle?

Thanks doc. This was an interesting one. Could you maybe talk about fissures than don’t bleed? Or very rarely bleed or maybe only bleed a small amount once and then never again despite staying open or retearing but still not bleeding. I’ve experienced this a lot snd see many people talking about just pain and stinging but no bleeding. What is the mechanisms behind this?

I’ve also seen a few fissure suffers say they feel they’ve healed the wound (me included) but always feel raw and have to where Vaseline all the time. None of us or any doctors we’ve seen seem to know what the deal with that is. They just say ‘fissures healed’. Helpful… would love to know why it constantly feels like raw irritated rubbing itchy or rough. I even feel my anus hair irritations the site where the fissure was.

I dont think my anal fissure is healed because when a new stool is passing through, I think it just reopen the fissure and starts to bleed. Am I right? (there's blood dripping in the toilet water and it just freaks me out. Also sometimes it just doesn't bleed when its literally the same sensation when it burns)

Hi Doctor!! I absolutely LOVE your content and have been applying some of your advise. I do however have a question. I have been constipated since a very young age and have hemorrhoids that really blows up quite large and pop out and sometimes stay out. I want to start using epsom salts around bi-weekly as this seems to be the only way to get rid of the waste. Other laxatives does not seem to work at all and I have a healthy diet with veggies 3 times a day, 4 days a week exercise, drinking 3l of water, etc, and my colon just doesn't seem to respond well to anything really, except Epsom salts. Could you advise me on how to properly use it and if it's dangerous in the long term? Because I am 30 years old and have no idea where my bowels will be at in 30 more years when it's already this bad for most my life... 😫

Maybe Probiotics would help... or TRIPHALA(research it) .... also drink prune juice... maybe 4 oz. Prune juice and 4 oz water mixed together before sleeping...

Oh I'm sorry to hear that.. The prune juice works too well for me, I get diarrhea from it even from small amount... but I hope something would work for you to stop you from getting constipation.. wish u the best

In past 6 months , I saw 4 times bright blood after hard and large stools. I got controlled by doctor. 2 months ago after couple of days last blood. I had bleeding two times in a month during stool movement so I had colonoscopy 6 months ago and there was no polyp but found hemerroid 3rd degree. So I have done piles laser surgery on 21st September,2023 but after surgery I am still having blood during the stool movement if i give little pressure. Do i need to worry about it now or i have to wait for few more days ??

I think I found myself a fix to my chronic fissure and sentinel pile. I've had this for a year (multiple retears) and it's been killing but for the fist time I've had no pain for more than a Month now. I just use lubricants till I fill like the sphincter is less tight and then take a s**t. Maybe this could help you guys.
