I have hundreds (thousands?) of video notes of me working on my truck build. I'm trying to organize them into videos I can share on KZbin. Disclaimer these are my NOTES so do your own research when you build your engine and work on your vehicle.
Four part series on installing rocker arms
Part 1 - Checking Valve Lash • Part 1 Checking Valve ...
Part 2 - Bronze Trunions versus Rullers • Part 2 LS Rocker Arms,...
Part 3 - Yella Terra Unboxing • Part 3 Unboxing Yella ...
Part 4 - Yella Terra Rocker Install • Part 4 Installing Yell...
I built an LQ9 (Gen III Small Block Chevy / LS). When I built it I installed short travel, slow leak down, racing lifters. I didn't quite know what I'd got myself into. The preload has to be SPOT on for them.
Long story short. I had to check valve lash on all the valves after so many miles. This is me doing that with a cool little tool I found making it easy to do in the engine bay.
I got the shaft mount rocker arms from Roger Vinci. He helped me spec my engine (outside of short throw lifters which I'd probably not do again). You can find the rocker arms on his website:

With my new rocker arms (Yella Terra 1.6 ultralights) it's five at 7.496 five at 7.501 and 6 at 7.506. Preload was 0.035" +/- 0.010" (Preload tolerance is 0.005" if you have an aluminum block). That's for the LSR 2116 Lifters. Every build will be different the specs are so tight on preload that the variance in engine build will make yours different. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, I probably spent 100 hours working on this and did it all wrong first time. Lifters are AWESOME but overkill for my build. I wanted to do away with lifter trays, I'd have been fine to do a LS7 style link bar lifter. These I think give you a TOUCH more power and more accurate fueling as the piston in the lifter is more consistent / valves follow cam profile more accurately. Other than that, I never pull high enough RPMs to realize their full benefit. You can email me through my website at www.keystoaz.com/contact-us/ (I'm a realtor by day)
