Good luck Dude! Try and save $5-6,500k if you can, will save you alot on repairs vs cheaper cars. You can find ok stuff at 3k but its harder and you gotta know what your looking at. Used prices are kinda high right now with covid, you'll get more car for you money if you can save for a year.

@@ironreed2654 well I have done a whole lot of research on liftoff oversteer and really you just have to understand that you can’t take your foot off the grass really fast while cornering. That goes for any mid engine car too if you just stay on the throttle then it won’t happen. Also if you take your hands off the wheel when the snap oversteer starts the car just kinda fixes itself lol

Two real simple things you can do: Number one is check the fluids, usually a good indication if someone took care of the car or not. Number two is hold your hand at the end of the exhaust with the car running (make sure it's a cold start). If you see oil on your hand it could be the pistons, sleeves, or in the case of a Subaru probably a head gasket. There are also forums for just about every car on the market and if your buying something common the known faults will be well documented.

Currently watching this great vid after I bought my first car just over a month ago and passed my test in January. My first car is a Baby Blue Audi A4 B7 got it for a good price and payed off my insurance for the year so very happy with that. When I was B7 hunting I found some stupid prices for ridiculous mileage near my area that were on sale. And I found my baby after 5 days of hunting. Thing is that it was over 100km away so I asked the owner if he could meet me halfway and he was very nice to do so. He was an old dude (bonus 😁), and the car has been treating me well ever since. Just getting a few minor engine problems fixed. Good few mods on the way. Moral of the story is dont jump the gun when you see a car you like and want keep looking. There’s always a better one for a better price. Just make sure the engine is good 😌👍🏾.

Great choice! My first car I also got this year was an A4 B8.5 Quattro. I love how practical these are, while still being upscale and affordable (under 12 grand for a really nice one). 4-doors, decently roomy and upscale interior, and a surprisingly large trunk. Especially since these A4's offer modern features of electronic assists like blind spot monitoring and backup camera, heated and electronic multi-zone adjustable seats, keyless entry, along with AWD and traction control (fantastic in the winter). I also like how Audi is more of an understated brand that's not as pretentious as Mercedes or BMWs, while still offering similar levels of quality. My other options for 4-door AWD sedans were Subarus, which were either too expensive, or old/thrashed with nowhere near the same amount of features as these Audi's for the price.

I guess I still get to make it scream even if it's mostly stock na 13b. 😃

@@JosueHernandez-nu5cp I have no clue, if you willing to put up with it then go ahead and try. Just be ware you may have to fight rust welded suspension parts, so in that case you probably want a slide hammer, sledge hammer, mallet (wrapped up sledge hammer works), maybe an impact wrench, and pb blaster or similar penetrating fluid in addition to your other obvious tools. Ohh protip don't try to remove really tight 6 spline bolts with a 6 spline wrench because you're gambling on if you strip the corners of the head down.

I absolutely LOVE the second gen Subaru Legacy sedan. It was my third car, first was a 1988 Nissan Sentra 2 door 4 speed, second was a 1988 Buick Lesabre with the 3.8 V6. The Sentra was very slow but it took a beating and made smiles, the buick was barely faster than a D16 EG Hatch (no v-tech) to 60, but somehow topped out around 145. But the Legacy.... That was my girl.

My first car was a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 S and bought it myself in June 2019 for about $3200. I then sold it and got a 2018 Honda Accord 1.5T Sport in October 2020 with the help of my pops (only credit-wise; I paid insurance, down payement, and monthly payments myself). I then traded in the 1.5T for a 2020 2.0T in December 2021 (The bank thought it was better to just buy off the 1.5T since it was more convenient for them considering how not great my interest was at the time of getting the 1.5T (16%), nice no debt there). This was my first time doing it on my own without any credit bumps or having my pops co-sign. I'm currently doing well with the payments and I'll be doing quite a bit of cosmetic (maybe performance) modding since I'll be having it for 3 years.

Even if you pay more for it, the dmv will see that you paid 1k for it and tax you based off that. Had you put anything more, youll pay more for taxes. I’m going to work my first professional job and my parents wanted to ‘help’ me find a car. What they ended up doing was telling me that in a suv, I’m going to get flat tires, run out of gas, can’t haul things in the back, and will flip over in an accident, and will get stuck in the mud. Then they took me to a GMC dealer where I was pressured to like the GMC canyon $48K (over my budget) that has lower fuel economy and about 18K more expensive for a small interior and bed. I plan to move in about a year and I don’t want to have a truck. All I want is an suv, that costs around $33K with good fuel economy. Although they will co-sign, I’ll be making all the payments. They have a different idea of what kind of car I want and I know that they have more experience with cars and ownership than me.

Any car you're interested in, take it to a mechanic for a check over before parting with your money. A $40 pre-purchase inspection could save you a ton of money and hassle if they find things it'll need, to keep it safe to be on the road. I'm a 3rd year apprentice mechanic, and in that time only seen 2 pre-purchase inspections, but have seen a dozen cars that people have just recently bought, that are borderline scrap value. Throwing away $40 is a lot better than buying something for cheap but has $2000+ in missed service items or mechanical issues.

1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Bought it from a guy who was in the middle of restoring it. He worked at a dealership and fell in love with a Hurst Olds 442 that some one had traded in. I paid $1750 for it. It was mechanically sound. BUT the wheels (classic Crager 5 spokes) were not round. Around town it was ok. At extra legal speeds the car would vibrate. The girls loved it though. It was all about the vibration, not the car itself. After about 70 MHP it would smooth out and you'd only be hitting the high spots on the wheels. I only had it for about 8 months until the 1st snow hit the ground. Even with 300 pounds on rock salt in the trunk it was a bitch to drive in the snow. I decided that I enjoyed living too much to attempt to drive that as my daily. I ended up with a 1984 S10 Blazer 4x4.

Also, it’s new, naturally aspirated (which I love) I have nothing to worry about ever. Im a little bummed out that fixing the rust will put it on the price of just buying one for 7-9k
@jlco
@jlco 2 жыл бұрын
@@femi8414 Personally I'd rather have had a manual transmission, a coupe, and/or a V6, but for the amount of money I spent ($3k in 2019) I definitely could have ended up with a worse car. The handling may not be on par with a sports car, but I can see why Honda kept the dual wishbone in the front for so long despite costs. And yeah, having to spend that much on repairs sucks. For 9k you could almost get a V6 (well, maybe in 2019 before car prices rose). Personal recommendation: Upgrade the rear sway bar, especially if you got an LX. You can use the rear sway bar (+matching bushings!) from a 2008 TSX (same part but stiffer) or a 2009 TL (different part, still fits, and even stiffer). Perhaps the body roll isn't so abysmal on OEM struts (I'm on Duralast and they're crap), but IMO the TL RSB is the best thing I've done to that car. (Other upgrades being a head unit, speakers, and a powered sub.)

Not the coolest car ever and was originally going to save for something cooler but My grandparents business was getting rid of it a bunch of these and offered me it for free. But the catch was the previous driver Never took care of it. Garbage everywhere, stains on the headliner, exterior Rust, very dirty. But I decided not to give up on it and took a whole weekend to clean it and eventually took it to a guy my dad knew to remove the rust of it. Now it looks like a brand new car and I Honestly I’m actually glad I took it, because I never really considered all the stuff mentioned in the video back then. It saved me a lot of money and luckily I had no engine issues as of six months of owning it. Plus I don’t really have a good place to store besides on the driveway and Minnesota winter can be brutal sometimes. I’ll get something cooler at a later point but for now i’m happy with what I got.
