I found one in South Austin tx last year. going for 700 that was vandalized. And missing wheels. I got some from the local junk yard and the night I made room in the garage my dog door darted across the street where a Corolla hit her. She survived the hit with just a fractured hip. but my savings did not recover after taking her to the vet to get some things for the pain she was in. Kinda just put a damper on my plans.

My son and I are nearing the end of a restoration (just putting the interior back together now) of 78 280 for his first car and every panel you mentioned including the front frame rails, parts of the front strut towers and the front torque arm mounts were all rusted. Oh, also the crossmember along the top of the windshield that holds the rear view mirror and visors had rusted say from the windshield leaking. Rebuilt the fuel tank, rebuilt most of the wire harness, replaced the fuse panel with a modern h style fuse one, rebuilt the suspension with prothane bushings, powder coated everything we could, subframes, springs, struts (which we also rebuilt). It’s taken us 3 years but we started driving the car 3 weeks ago and it’s such a blast. The L28 sounds so good and is so much fun to drive I hope he never changes the engine, but it’s fully his car and he can do whatever he wants with it. Personally I would pick a different car to do an engine swap 🤷‍♂️

I’m finally the proud owner of a 1978 280Z 2+2. It’s beautiful. I bought it in California and drove it all the way to Vegas. Drove perfectly and it was kept in such fantastic condition. The outside looks pristine, the interior is well kept, and man is it a fun drive. It’s so zippy, I can’t get over how genuinely fun it is to floor it at a red light. That 5 speed manual is so fun. Got her for $14,000 and then spent another $3000ish for maintenance, repairs, and a good tint. Worth every penny.

Engine runs great with little to no problems other than needing new fuel injectors. The only thing I could complain about it is it’s a hard top automatic car. my dad had a White. Scoop Intake, '71 240Z......he said he did a motor swap in it ( im not sure what to.) but he always told me about this car, and showed me pictures of her in its glory days. back when he street raced in highschool. XD i grew up surrounded by Z husks and parts, wanting to one day build my own. as i currently am, im saving for a 73' 240Z a friend found for me. and as soon as i get the car, im going to have it restored to look like my dads old photos, and give it to him. ( by that point, i plan on buying another one for me. XD ) - i love doing research on these cars. always something new. -

As long as I’ve been alive, my dad has bought either American or German. But he owned a 280z in the 80s and it’s the one car he always talks about and that says something about them.

Looking to buy one this week, I found one with an LS Swapped LS1 Corvette engine in it, and the only real damage is interior weathering, otherwise solid! I just went to go look at it today and am praying to god I can snatch it before someone else does :)

I had a Blue 1973 Datsun 240z with Black & white interior, 4 speed. I got the Z in 1975, before my 1st year in college. Best 5 years of my automotive years during a daily car. I lost the car in a car wteck, at stop light stationed behind my dad, a 3/4 ton Chevy truck plowed in my six. Totaled my car, & dads car in front. I miss that car still, & in 1980, i bought a simliar shaped car, a brand new 1980 Mazda Rx-7 4 speed. I still have the Rx-7. It was my daily driver. I am a boomer & just slightly older...story to be continued!

I got a rusty running 260z with some nice parts on it for a grand last year, they are still out there just good luck finding a nice example for cheap. I lucked out and just found a super mint original 240z for not too much more so I am going to have one race car and one show piece. All that aside, kinda bummed you didn't talk about wheel sizes and fitment, that's kinda why I come here.

I have had 3 offered to me in my lifetime. I finally got the 3 rd one several years ago. Vira is in the garage for winter but I have been rebuilding an L28ET for her as a surprise, and several other upgrades. I hope she likes it. Eventually she is gonna get her nails done too.

its defnitely one of my dream cars, I love its styling. Wish someone came out with a kitcar not the firbreglass type, but the actual 1:1 quality and percision that went to making it back then. A remake with a more lasting quality. Id encase it and put it on a pedestal

The 240 is one of the most beautiful cars ever created. Been looking for one for years. It's hard to find one here in south western Ontario that's not rusted out. If I ever find one that's got a really good body I'll do all the mechanical work myself. Oh well I'll just wait and see. Great video

I had a 76 280, it was a rusty pile, looked great outside, but whoa big holes. I sold it and bought a 72 Chevelle. Because every part for it exists and it wasn't as rusted out

ok this came out 2 years ago, but what i think about 240Z. Everyone has one memory they remember from childhood. For me its the 240Z, as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it and still am. So for me, that thing is special and i hope to get behind the wheel of one. Perhaps even get the keys 👀
