@calincampbell56374 жыл бұрын
A few things you missed. First gen V's have the same aluminum getrag diff case as the v6 cts. They are weak and known to shatter even under stock power. Aftermarket solutions are out there but they are not cheap. Cheapest solution is to swap in the rear cradle from a 2nd gen V which will cost $2k plus and has several drawbacks. There are aftermarket kits for using the ford 8.8 and 9 inch rear but they will cost you $5k+. There are several mods available to strengthen the stock diff but it's a gamble. There are 4 different iterations of diff for the first gen V. 2004 and 2005 use the first and second which are the weakest and most prone to shatter. 2006 and 2007 use the 3rd gen which is a little stronger, and the 4th gen diff was released in 2008 and not installed from the factory. The stock diff is fine if you're not doing burnouts or hard launches but when buying a vehicle with multiple owners that's a risk you have to decide on. All factory driveline bushings are soft and will need to be replaced to eliminate clunking/driveline vagueness. Creative Steel has everything you need plus the 8.8 diff swap. Replace diff bushing, rear cradle bushings, shifter bushings, isolator bearing, motor and trans mounts and you'll be all set. Get an 06-07 if you can afford it. They are more refined all around than the 04-05's. Grounding issues solved, pcm issue solved, stronger diff, cam gear pin issue solved, and numerous other things. The biggest pro of the newer cars is the LS2 engine. It does have a better torque curve stock, but the biggest pro is that it's a gen 4 6.0. Meaning most parts are interchangeable between gen 4 motors, including the ls3.

The trunk is decent with good shape and the Recaros are a little too hard now after 12 years on a 73 YO butt, but being ventilated is killer. The Barack Diamond paint awesome especially after its freshly washed. The suede seat inserts make a black interior livable. I wish the Jim Miro (?) who I think did the suspension dial-in engineering would offer a software update like he did on the 2013 C6 corvette 427/Z06. My daughters rented me a drive of a Lambo Hurricane. The car was very fast and a thrill to drive but I own a CTS-V at 660 hp and the Lambo has nothing over the V. The V is the most amazing car I have ever driven. What a monster!!

Fun fact the first GM vehicle test feature the magneride was the Cadillac STS GM pioneered and patented this system alongside their subsidiary Delphi other auto manufacturers have to pay them to use it

I have a 1,000hp 2011 Hennessey coupe (non-Recaro, A6) and love it! Believe it or not, it drives like a Cadillac. There really aren't that many sacrifices that had to be made, and the ride is very comfortable. Definitely not a sleeper, but an awesome car that can still be (carefully) driven, even in less than ideal conditions.

If I ever sell my current car I'm getting either a Second Gen CTSV or a C6 Z06... manuals of course.

As an owner of both, they are extremely different cars. Unless you REALLY need backseats, get the Z.

05 V here cammed/straight piped w a few other things. I don’t drive it a lot but it’s fun. The stock dif is fine if you are doing donuts but don’t try and burn rubber in a straight line or launch it like you stole it.

The Car is amazing I have a 2018 and I am still impressed every time I drive it. But only in the warm weather unless you have a set of all season or snow tires. The Michelin pilot Sport Cups will not move the car out of any snow covered drive way. I have a 09 Viper ACR with same tires close to same horse power same drag times zero to 60 3.6 and 1/4 mile what 11.7 I love my V series I have owned many hi po cars this is my favourite. Buy one you will love it. Oh Great review !! I loved it nice job the reviewer was on his game! Dam nice job.

Even the regular 2016 CTS basemodel is tons of fun. My dad owns one and it still hauls ass and whips around quick

My LSA CTSV sedan 6spd was fun, traded in for the last ISF sedan. Had another child so got a S4. Currently driving a FOB VA STI. S4 was cheapest to mod and was fastest stop light to stop light. CTSV had most compliments but wasn’t cheap to mod and chugged gas. The STI is the most fun so far to daily drive. Guess it all depends on what you want car for

my dad had a 3rd gen, the first-ever car I drove. its a really, really good car, I prefer it to our r8 v10+ the only thing I like better is my Porshe 911 and the only thing that makes it better is I'm a rally nerd and love Porsche rally cars :)

In the UK we got the STS and the BLS but we never got the CTS in right hand drive and we don't get the current CT4 or CT5 on this side of the pond either, which is a real shame because modern Cadillacs are awesome.

As a prior V1 owner, get a 06-07 with the ls2. The ls1/ls6 platform is not great. It was my favorite car I’ve owned and buckets of fun. Mine sat on 19” ag m410s, coil overs, and some nt555. It looked great and held its own in the corners
