Legendary meditation teacher and bestselling author Sharon Salzberg explains the 4 sublime states of mind, and talks about what are the brahmaviharas.
Sharon is largely responsible for popularizing mindfulness in the West. As one of the founding members (along with Jack Kornfield and Joseph Goldstein) of the Insight Meditation Society, Sharon brought a deep level of mindfulness meditation practice into the U.S. mainstream.

- metta (loving kindness)
- karuna (compassion)
- mudita (sympathetic joy or empathy)
- upekkha (equanimity)
