Hey, one of the best edited videos I've seen!! Been looking into buying BBR, but was wondering if it would work with weights? Say weighted pull ups and dips? Been doing weighted pull ups and dip for awhile now, so was wondering if this program would be suitable for weighted calisthenics. Thanks!
@BodyweightProcess Жыл бұрын
Thank you ! Honestly I wouldn’t jump into this with weighted variations yet. Especially considering the tempo protocols used (assuming you stick to them) and volume involved. It progressively gets more difficult with each phase. Have you trained weighted ring dips in the past? Regardless, it’s well worth being patient, using just your bodyweight for now, especially if you aren’t acclimated to using rings 👍

@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
Much appreciated my man thank you. The E-book just covers basic stuff (ex. Caloric deficit vs caloric surplus). I payed more attention to eating cleaner, avoiding processed foods and maintained a deficit. Personally it worked great for me and kept it up as I felt healthier/leaner. My suggestion is to experiment, not overthink it and base your diet around your goals. We all react differently to specific diets. Of course we’re training with just our bodyweight in this program so gaining a few pounds/kilos during this makes a difference, so just be aware. Good luck and enjoy the process 🤟🏼

Great video, subscribed and probably going to purchase the program (been waffling between trying to figure it out on my own or buying something like BBR). General public speaking suggestion to consider - you make a lot of apologies about the missing footage from phase 2/3 - it's generally better to not apologize for content you don't have. Instead, focus on the (frankly amazing) content and video you do have. I probably wouldn't have even noticed the missing footage, but if you feel the need to acknowledge it don't dwell on it. My two cents - you do you and what you think is best.

Could you point trustable online material about that topic? There are too much contradictory info about that in the internet...
@energy50763 жыл бұрын
Godlike video dude! How did you approach the tempo for some exercises? I find it difficult sticking with the rep range with the given tempo for some exercises like chin ups, could only do 4 chin ups with the tempo as opposed to the minimum of 6.
@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And the E-book actually addresses that, but to put it simply, if you’re struggling reaching the minimum reps try and perform less reps and more sets. Ex, perform 5 sets x 4 reps (= 20 total reps) you still meet the volume needed while being able to execute reps with proper form avoiding fatigue early on in your sets. The only downside is this will take more time. You can also manipulate the tempo if it’s too difficult for you. I remember the chin up tempo it’s a tough one, just reduce the eccentric time and isometric hold time at the top, even by one second and see how it feels. Overtime you can gradually work your way back to the recommended tempo. Quality > Quantity 💯

Hi man. Been progressing the program for a while now. I was wondering what do you do if you achieve max reps on all of phase 3 excercises and you want to progress? I added weight to some like dips and pullups but i dont have a dip belt so i dont think i am safe if to do it with all of them. So yeah how do you progress further and still keep using rings? Btw is it me or are BBR users lacking in chest size???? not you but other bbr reviewers and also myself i notice i don't have the manboobs some of you guys have
@LandscapeInMotion3 жыл бұрын
Great summary mate! I’ve also been on BBR for the last 2.5 years and I must agree, if you stay focused on slowly progressing, muscle and power gains soon follow! However, another CON would be lack of info around general injury prevention…only Daniels wrist and shoulder warmup discusses this. For example, when I was repping out 16 ring dips, I soon developed a shoulder injury for 5 months. So I had to go back to basics and hired a PT and a Physio to focus me on building bullet proof shoulders with weights - which I still do to this day for warmup. Also, as you mentioned, LEG workouts are imperative - not really mentioned in BBR program! So I purchased Limitless Legs and oh man are my legs bulking now after 1 year. And most lower back and neck pain are gone! During lockdowns, my friends were getter fatter due to gyms closing, and I was getting stronger each day at home. My current weekly split is as follows: (and my program shuffles the days): Day 1 - BBR Day 2 - limitless legs Day 3 - skills day (handstand, muscle up, front lever, L Sit etc) Day 4 - BBR Day 5 Limitless legs Day 6 - BBR Day 7 - rest For 4 weeks, then 1 week de-load. Because I’m also vegan (focus on high Protien plant food), my found my muscle recovery is about 24 hours, allowing me to train at full intensity for almost every day of the week. Finally, you can use this program indefinitely as there are many progressions to keep you busy. For example, I now do 16kg pull-ups and chin-ups with a weight belt - my goal is 20kg.
@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
That’s an awesome point, addressing injury prevention would’ve been a nice plus. I’ve been in a similar position with injuries good thing you addressed it (currently dealing with bad bicep tendonitis sadly). As to me this is definitely not the best program, especially for the beginners, like who the hell starts with archer pushups, when you have just started, there are more 20 push up variations out there on rings from easier to more harder progressions, and all of them are just ignored, including knee progressions and angles. What I mean is what the point doing progressions almost standing if you have to do it in a pushup position, if can't, than why to do archer standing, when you simply can't do normal pushup on rings on the lowest point, archer is not the easiest progression and to do it standing, instead working on regular push ups position correctly to build mlre strenght first. Also what is the point of the name body by rings, if many of the a exercises are not ring based, while being as a foundation exercises and not complimentary, you can do shoulder pike push ups with rings, you also can do shrugs upside down hanging on rings. You can also use overlooped rings hold for flys and he is simply ignoring support hold practise, and asking person who never tried rings to start straight with dips lol.

I've been repeating phase 3 over and over and i still haven't managed to ace it fully, so i am quite sure the fault lies on my part. Do you reckon i should keep going at it? Or perhaps that it is time for me to look for something else?
@BodyweightProcess Жыл бұрын
Prior to doing this program I had about 5-6 years of bodybuilding with weights, so I had a base physique developed already (my first video goes over my past) I believe The shock of the new stimulus with rings, plus my build (genetically speaking), and the foundation I had already led to my results. I don’t think you need to constantly repeat phase 3. If you’re stuck it could be best to regress. You could use the bodybuilding protocols provided from the program and continue using those methods with a different approach. As for physique It’s important focus on your physical attributes, avoid comparison, notice the changes that have occurred for YOU and be PROUD of them. It can take years to see the results you want, but I guarantee there are results you have now and don’t look past them no matter how small they may seem. Be proud of them and continue to put all your focus on the next session, Thanks for watching 💯

@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
First off thank you for watching I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I also began weighted calisthenics training as well after the fact, I was experimenting with pure strength phases maintaining strength training protocols such as 1-5 reps / 3-5 sets/ 3-5 minute rest periods, etc. So when I went back to my hypertrophy work I'd be able to increase intensities from previous exercises and perform them within hypertrophy range. Overall switching between hypertrophy/strength phases while progressively overloading and adding different exercises overtime worked best for me.

What does Tempo 30X0 mean?
@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
I’ll make a video on tempo, but to simply lay it out, it’s the seconds spent in each phase of one rep of a dynamic exercise. 3 (eccentric/negative portion) 0 (time spent at the bottom) X (concentric/positive portion) 0 (time spent at the top) Basically saying a slow negative and explosive positive. Ex. 3 seconds lowering down in a push up, no pause at the bottom, explode to the top, no pause at the top and repeat 👍🏼

Hey man looking good. Btw did you eat in a surplus or deficit? Pardon me if you mentioned this in the video. I just started by BBR but I have a years worth of prior callisthenic experience (can do about 16/17 pull ups, 50+ push ups, etc.) so I'm not quite a beginner but also not necessarily "advanced". The problem is I want to maximize the muscle building potential and continue my gains but since I'm already like 15% bf, not sure if I'll gain in a deficit which risk wasting time and not getting the most from the program.
@Free4113 жыл бұрын
@@alexmedina8016 haha it's tough man bc i'm in this weird gray area where i'm muscular and most people around me say so, but i do have a higher body fat percentage and not as aesthetic as i could be - if continue to bulk, i'll just get "softer" and will actually start looking pudgy hahaha
@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
I was mostly in a caloric deficit towards the end of phase 2 and the rest of phase 3. Personally it worked out for me, my body reacted by reducing some bf while packing on some muscle. Honestly as I got leaner I felt I looked bigger, I was much more defined. Everyone’s different, I say experiment with it and don’t overthink it too much. See how you react on a deficit vs a surplus while consistently training. I understand that feeling where you don’t want to lose gains and start thinking about how to make the “perfect” diet/routine, but paralysis by analysis will only hinder you. Thank you and no need for that, I have a lot of respect for Daniels consistent/quality work and truly appreciate his efforts. I was more than happy to make this review as this program not only changed my life, but many others and hopefully more 🤟🏻

Hey man! what was your diet like while training if you remember. Cutting? Bulking? Eating clean?
@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
During the program I wasn’t very strict with it at all during phase 1 tbh, it was towards the end of phase 2 and the rest of 3 where I maintained a clean diet and was in a slight caloric deficit. Thanks for watching btw 💯

What would you suggest for someone who couldn’t do mantle chin-ups? Just regular pull ups?
@BodyweightProcess2 жыл бұрын
Have you tried mantles at the easiest possible intensity? (Support ring just barely below the working arm) If it’s still an issue you can continue to improve pulling strength with chin ups and work towards easier mantle set ups or experiment with chin ups into an archer position and back (type writer chin up) 👍🏼

Further to my previous comment after starting BBR myself; This is an excellent video. Listen! Follow the programme and advice closely. It works!

how does it make a 6 pack? i dont get it. I like how 2 rings is all you need but. can you really achieve the ideal body with just rings?
@williamwilson4642 Жыл бұрын
It takes an incredible amount of core strength to stabilize your self on rings. I don’t have this program but have been using rings for about a month. Exercises like leg lifts and the ring roll out will work your abs. Just the simple hallow body hold will work your core, as well. Basically most exercises you do with rings require core strength.
@matthewroberts1983 жыл бұрын
This really helps as I bought the program as well. And yeah, using rings suck at first but I feel that the sucking makes me want to work harder

This reminds me of watching Radu Antoniu - the editing is fun, the video shows some artistic flair without any extra fat; I didn’t want to skip ahead at any point. It is pure information with impeccable delivery I have no idea what kind of content is on the channel (I will check it out when I’m done watching this) but I’ve already subscribed.

Wow thank you for this review. Did you ever try the begin bodyweight? And use weights later on in your progressions?

No problem! And no I had years of weight training experience prior to starting BBR, my first video I made goes over my training background if you’d like to check that out. I started experimenting with weighted calisthenics training after finishing BBR.

Hey hey, firstly thanks for all the work you put into this video. You did a great job of showcasing the program and I’m grateful to hear your seriously thorough review. My question - I’m a super busy guy and 4x 60 minute workouts a week is already a lot for me to fit into my schedule, but the fact that there’s zero focus put on legs pushes me back. I don’t want to only workout my upper body but I certainly can’t commit to anything more than 4x a week at the moment. Is this program a bad idea if I can only manage the 4 workouts/week?
@BodyweightProcess2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate that man thank you! It’ll come down to your goals honestly. BBR is great for hypertrophy, but if 4x a week and an hour is hard to maintain, (and that’s just the first phase, each workout tends to they get longer with each phase) You might be better with 2-3x full body workouts that are based around rings if that’s what you want to work with. If you’re goal is still hypertrophy and wanna save time try super-setting the upper body work. Ex. Push/Pull Full Body Upper 1. Vertical pull -> Horizontal Push (Superset) 2. Vertical push ->Horizontal Pull (superset) Lower 3. Push Legs (ex., weighted bw Squats / sissy squats) 4. Pull Legs (ex., assisted Nordic curls or banded hamstring curls) Arms 5. Isolated arms pull - isolated arms push (superset) 6. Scap work Just an example, you could buy it and pick out exercises you like until you can follow the program, still plenty to learn from it for hypertrophy and training, but some KZbin searches could also save you some money. Otherwise if I were you I’d try creating a full body workout and hit it 2-3x a week with some supersets to help save time and get an efficient session in that’s based around your goals 💯

@@BodyweightProcess ahh thank you, it means a lot that you responded! I think you’re probably right, maybe I’ll just continue to research and build my own 3x per week program to try and cover all my bases. I’d love to commit more but it’s just not in the cards for me at the moment. Thank you for you help!
@giovannyec3 жыл бұрын
and leg training? you would get better and faster results by adding leg training 2 times a week
@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. In my suggestions section at the end I recommend to hit legs each week and avoid the mistake I made which was hitting legs inconsistently. 2x a week if possible is definitely worth doing. Thanks for watching 🤟🏻

Just bought the program, how did you start with reps / sets for compounds, and how did you increase per week?
@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
I started off making the mistake of using too high of an intensity while shooting for the higher rep/set ranges (7:42). I suggest starting with the minimum recommendations shown on the PDF, I go further into detail with this @ 21:34 . For me once I was able to hit a specific amount of reps/sets with “x” intensity I’d increase my reps or sets in the following session. That’s a very broad answer on my part, but the E-book has all the answers in detail to your questions 🤘🏻

Glad that the program was so effective for you, what have you been doing since?
@BodyweightProcess3 жыл бұрын
It’s been 4 years since so a lot has changed. I’ve experimented with bodyweight bodybuilding, weighted calisthenics, skill work, and mobility/flexibility work. Failed a lot over that time as well, but continuing to learn and grow. thanks for watching 💯

Hi there I bought this after watching the review The part where you said "Hit legs" made me think it included legs training But it does not Hopefully I can get a refund as I was looking for whole body training It should really be called "Upper body by rings"
@BodyweightProcess Жыл бұрын
Hitting legs outside of it was something I wished I done more at that time, but yes this is solely for upper body as rings are predominately a tool for the upper body. At 1:52 it shows Push/Pull (Upper Body) 👍 Sorry for the confusion!
