Fitting 997 Sports seats to my Porsche 996… & a NOS F-series badge!

In this video I swap out my factory (horrible) non-Sport 996 seats for a pair of Sport seats from a 997/987! Featuring a full fitting guide on how to master the wiring for the swap, with the help of Scott from Dorset Porsche specialists, Bahnsport. This is a great mod and a great way to improve the driving experience of your Porsche 996!

Watched this again. Just bought a pair of manual 997 hardbacks. Passed on the $$$$ 14 way adaptive as it seemed overkill and complicated to wire. Can't wait, but adding heat that I didn't have before might be a bit of a pain but hopefully worth it. Thanks for the video.

I went for the sports seats from a 99(8)6, the 99(8)7 ones are lower in the base for sure you do get good levels of holding in laterally with the 996 ones.

997 seats are fantastic upgrade. Love mine! Exactly agree. Funny comments on ruffled leather 😂 Can’t believe people actually liked those back in 90’s. New ones look amazing in little Irish. Great video as always Lee 👍

Went with the hard back mod on mine too, massive improvement over the comfort seat especially on a longer run, plus like you say they look so much better and lift the looks of the interior in my opinion 👌🏼😊

Just a tip for anyone considering putting 997 sports seats in their 996, swapping the seats with a manual base is straight forward. However, if you fit the adaptive sports seats it is a lot more complicated as you have to bypass the memory module in the seats. This takes a fair bit of work and if you are not good with electrics I strongly suggest getting the manual seats.

I did this only last week. The method I used was to purchase the switch unit and wiring hardness from a non memory car, made it all plug and play. Just very expansive :( This was the 18way electric seats.

I took time to get Sports plus seat on my 991 they are so much more comfortable than 14 way standard on my previous car after 100 mile trip.

I’ve got 997 seats in my car as well, and I agree they are great! As you stated excellent lateral support, and they definitely update the cabin appearance.

Great video there. I reckon that yellow seat belts would really bring your metropole blue interior elements together! My favourite thing about my infamous 4k 996 (which you've seen at various Fried Eggs meets) is the red seat belts!

Another great video in the very enjoyable Little Irish series, thanks for sharing. The seats are a great addition and apologies in advance for this very OCD comment but if it wasn't uncomfortable for Mrs Sib's bad back perhaps you could lower the passenger seat to match the lower adjusted driver seat height. Would just look that tiny bit better even.

Tremendously helpful video. I am in desperate need to make this mod for my 986 Boxster which as I build a bigger upper body frame is becoming a difficult drive. The 997/987 seats are a vast improvement and worth the eBay pickup for approx £500. Great work also from the fitter making sure they are ideally installed. A video I have been long seeking to see on KZbin. Liked+Subscribed :)

My 996 was already upgraded to 997 sport seats, and the electric backrest works. Wondering if it is possible to wire up the heated seats for the transplanted seats?

Great video! The 996 seats are not the best indeed and as a almost 2m long dutchman I need every cm of exta headroom. I’ll keep an eye out for a set in the future 👍🏻

October 30, 23@ 9pm. I have a 01 C4 and have purchased 05-08 seats (slightly different color) they have heat which I do not have. From the look of the controls, they have the same features, forward and backward, and seat back. Plus heating. 01 no air bag on the side of the seat as well. Will I be able to adapt the wiring? Please advise??

I REALLY want to do this (99 996 C2Cab), lower is good, leather looks better as well to what I have now. I worry about headrest height clearance in a Cabriolet. Enjoy your videos very much. Would love to see what you think of RSS engine mounts...

How much lower are the new 997 seats at the lowest position? I would love to buy a 996, but as a tall person, I struggle with headroom in the 996. Would be great to know if this is a viable solution for increasing headroom in the 996!

NOT A FAN OF THE SHIFTER, I CHANGED THE CONSOLE WITH A GT2 PAINTED IT, INSTALLED THE PORSCHE SHIFTER IN GRAY WITH EMBLEM AND A SHORT SHIFT KIT. I HAVE A FITTIPALDI WHEEL IN MY 86, BUT NOT IN MY 996, MAY SWITCH TO A SUEDE WHEEL LATER.

Very nice. My 996 left the factory with manual sport seats, so Im in no rush to upgrade to 997 seats, but this looks like a good option for anyone with the base seats. Also my car is Space Grey inside so matching 997 seats dont even exist.

In same boat and the hardback sport seats in the gen1 996 I find perfect and more comfortable than 997 seats. I find the 997 very hard in comparison

@@marshallsonmotorsltd2101 Agreed. I've never driven a 997 with Sport Seats, only ridden in the passenger seat, but I quite prefer the 996 seats. My one gripe is that I don't have seat heating, but I'm looking into retrofitting it to my original sport seats.

Great video. Sports seats is the one thing I felt like my 997 is missing. The only trouble is I don't know where to find them. Which breakers yard did you get them from, or is that an industry secret? Looking for a black pair if anyone has some!

Nice video, your car feels like a hybrid between a 996/997 & 964 (seats, cookie cutter, spoiler etc), assuming non standard Porsche paint colour? Do you consider the value of the car (stock vs mod) as you change it, or not?

This is a great point that I didn't make in the video - while I didn't have big enough scales to weigh them, the 997 seats are MUCH lighter than the 996 seats!

If your green irish was grey and had stripes, it would be really close to the "911 Classic Club Coupe", in fact it would be close the #2 of 1... (go check out on Porsche official YT channel)

Not a great fit for bigger guys IMO. Main reason is the shoulder bolster. It hits the back of the arms awkwardly.
