Good effort mate, I was a little worried when you started talking about using a grinder... It looks pretty cool man, well done 😎

Haha, I don't know what the handpiece is called. Isn't it a grinder? Not being a professional like yourself, I'm always a little surprised with myself when something works out pretty good like this 😎👌

Cheers for the content Bruce and hope all’s well down-under. After watching this video, I ordered from Viking and they delivered to me in Northern Ireland via my own mail-forwarder, so perhaps they have listened? I reused the original bolts and now share your same concern. I’m now trying to source something a half-inch or so longer, I think they are 3/8-16 UNC T45 Imperial Torx Pan Head and I need something longer than the original 2-inch. If anyone reading this comes across a supplier it might be helpful to others to share. Thanks again Bruce, really pleased with the look of these bars on my ST and I’m not planning on taking a pillion anytime soon (at least until I get some longer bolts fitted.)

Edward Richie sissy bars look quite similar, and I’m sure they would have sent you one without issue. Either way, it looks killer. Can’t wait to get mine mounted on my st. Thanks for posting!

Nice vid brother, and great looking sissy bar. I too had issues with Viking bags when I bought my saddle bags for my Super glide. I specifically asked if they came with keyed locks on the top as in their product photo and of course they answered yes and you'll never guess, they did not have the keyed locks when they arrived🥴, obviously it was too late to argue the point, so I had to accept what they sent (came via Aussie I think), cheers

After my experience your experience sadly doesn't surprise me. I guess it's par for the course when living out here in the antipodes! Still, I'm happy now and it will be a story to tell over a beer ;D

Hi. There is a tall sissy bar on Ali Express that utilizes the HoldFast mounting system and lets you just snap it on just like the bags. I bet it's about 4 times cheaper than what you paid to Viking plus all the shipping drama. The only problem with the Ali Express bar is that it's about 3 cm narrower between the mounting points. I am told this is easily fixed by bending the bars a bit with a rig and then repainting. Haven't done that yet, but it does seem somewhat easier compared to needing to cut and grind the stock mounts. I assume at some point you will also need a rack behind the bar to hold your rear bag and the Harley one won't fit now.
@MisterKiwiRider2 жыл бұрын
Cheers for your thoughts but I'm happy-as with this. To be honest, bending and repainting a sissy bar sounds like far more work than shortening the mounts. I also appreciate your thoughts on future-proofing but honestly, if I ever want a rear rack and a quick release sissy bar in the future, I can just order new mounts. All good 🤟😎

@@MisterKiwiRider yeah, makes you wonder why won’t Harley just offer a tall sissy bar for Lowriders. Could be so much less hassle. The one they offer that neatly snaps into place with no modding is way too low to be practical

Im sure things just got complicated due to Import Duties or something else to do with taxes.. Living in California i have to ship my parts to a buddy out of state and have him send them back to me.. Which is hilarious when the parts I buy are made in California but are illegal to sell in California.... Gotta love bureaucracy!!
@bobberguy12 жыл бұрын
My guess on shipping is probably some bs U. S. regulations concerning customs and import duties. Want to screw things up, get the U. S. Government involved. Glad it worked out. Bike is beautiful.
@MisterKiwiRider2 жыл бұрын
Cheers, yes, that sounds plausible. To be honest the same could be said of the NZ government too
