I am very pleased that you share these kinds of videos. My 03 vfr came with a stainless delkevic slip-on. I just ordered the headers yesterday and really needed this in order to do it myself. You folks are truly amazing!

@@DelkevicExhausts so, I installed my headers today. Pretty easy install. My main concern was one of the link pipe clamps was the wrong size. That really set me back. I had to bend a couple peices of scrap to fill the void and snug it up. Getting the center stand off was the worst part. Reverse thread on the right side. Sounds epic, though. Can someone send me a clamp, please?

Thanks for the video my good man! The zorst looks great, be a 1/4" larger diameter then stock and decat collector make the bike cooler running and better power/economy. Just fitting mine up now waiting on a shock rebuild to finish- great street bike vfr 5th gen.

Having owned 2 98 Gen 5 VFR800 I’ve always been on the lookout for a “better” exhaust system. My first experience with Delkevic products was their version 1 ss header system for the VFR. Needless to say, the fit was ok but the end result was not. I had exhaust leaks and the center stand no longer folded properly into its folded position. 21:21 I reinstalled the oem pipes (which, after having refinished by JETHOT COATINGS) looked great and fit like a glove! Version 1 was relegated to the parts bin and later sold. A couple years later, probably around 2017-18, Delkevic announced their version 2 for the venerable Gen 5 VFR. Like the above video shows, the are a bit different but go on fairly easily, look good but what’s not shown is the interference with the proper operation of the center stand and close proximity to the lower fairing on the right side. But there are no exhaust leaks, clamps and springs are, I believe, ss. All in all it’s a good upgrade to the normally rusted oem system. By the way, did I see an hex head bolt holding one of the collars in place? It’s not unusual for a exhaust stud to back out or even break especially if one doesn’t use liberal amounts of penetrating (mix equal parts of ATF and acetone) agent for better results.

Great video. I'm just installing this kit on my 2001 but not sure what the small right angled bit of metal is for, there doesnt seem to be a use for it. Anyone else notice the front brake mod? Looks like the RC51 fork and caliper mod to delink the brakes.
@DelkevicExhausts
@DelkevicExhausts Жыл бұрын
Thanks, glad you like the video :) Not sure which right angled bit you're talking about, sorry. Since you asked I'll confirm the bike is modified, it has the Nissin 30/34 calipers from the CBR929, all oe brake lines replaced with braided/kevlar hoses, linked brake system completely removed (incl. distributor and 2nd slave cyl), rear caliper pistons bridged, the master cylinders have been changed to match the new calipers, the forks are from a VTR1000F, the rear shock is from a CBR929. None of this however affects how the exhaust fits :)

so with this replacement, did you 'remap' the ECU? or can you run it with the current stock fuel map? am considering this for my 2000 honda VFR, i have a module (not a power commander) to select different maps...which one will work best? i guess it'll be a dyno tune in the future.
@DelkevicExhausts
@DelkevicExhausts Жыл бұрын
No fuelling adjustments were made, all our exhausts are developed on stock bikes. The 98 W and 99 X models (99 in the video) actually run slightly rich from the factory and with the Delkevic exhaust fitted tend to run with a perfect AFR, the 00-01 models have the O2 sensor and the ECU will be able to adjust accordingly. You can squeeze more performance or economy or throttle response if you do tune it on a dyno or tweak a map but there is no need to.

Just finished fitting the system, wasn't too bad but the access is horrible haha. Only issue I have is The springs on the collector to pipes 1&2 have decent tension when attached, but when I add the springs to pipes 3&4 there is nothing. The springs just rattle around loose and aren't holding anything in place?

I wish you had a kit for the 7th gen (1200F), nobody makes a full system 😢
@DelkevicExhausts
@DelkevicExhausts Жыл бұрын
Hi, the '7th' gen VFR is a completely different bike and in a different class of bike really. It was released as an intended replacement for the CBR1100XX Blackbird rather than any kind of evolution of the VFR800, it has no common parts with the VFR800, it is shaft drive etc. It has the same engine and frame as the VFR1200X and you might find options for that bike with commonality because the VFR1200X was a popular bike. We and many other exhaust companies decide which exhausts to make based on how popular the bike was and if there aren't many on the road, then there isn't much point in spending a lot of money develping a systen for it. However, I consider the VFR1200F to be one of the best bikes Honda has ever made and it's a real shame more people didn't buy it. Honda made some bold decisions with that bike that deserved to be rewarded with better sales and with it, the confirmation of the design direction they had undertaken.
@RoeyHaviv
@RoeyHaviv Жыл бұрын
@@DelkevicExhausts I agree and love my bike, just saying I wish you guys made one, I understand the fact it wasn’t popular limits aftermarket options but there’s a lot of untapped potential in that motor, Ariel Ace has proven it. Hope you didn’t take my comment as a complaint, it was just a wish.

@@DelkevicExhausts Think you've gotten your facts wrong Mr Delkevic ... 5th / 6th / 7th /8th Gen are all 800's, your'e confusing the VFR1200 as being the 7th Gen which it clearly isn't, it's a new VFR model on its own.
@DelkevicExhausts
@DelkevicExhausts Жыл бұрын
It is a new model on it's own, if you read what I've written I do state that however it seems that the wider world at large call it the '7th gen' VFR, whether that should be so is a matter of opinion, personally I think it shouldn't be described as the '7th' gen VFR but it seems I'm in the minority. For the record, I did check my facts before writing that reply, as I do with all the replies.

Hi, we didn't want to start the bike because it would have meant that the exhaust system could not be sold afterwards. The system we used was one from our stock, we of course perform regular quality control checks to test the fit of the exhausts to ensure that our production is consistent. After filming, the exhaust system was removed from the bike, thoroughly cleaned and then re-packaged and sold.
