It's really hit and miss with the quality regardless of brand I've put new ones in the bin before now. Thanks🙂👍

I spent thirty quid on those rubbers. Couldn’t shut the vents! Ended up using that high density foam strip on the inside of the flap so it mates with the edge of the bulkhead. No water trap and it works as well as I need it to.

They can be a pain to fit and the quality can can be very poor I've put new ones straight in the bin before now.🙂👍

I had some very bad ones, fitted the bulkhead but the flaps were sticking out And could not be shut.

Unfortunately many new parts aren't as good a quality as it used to be☹

I ordered some seals for my 1997 300tdi and they sent the rubber ones like the ones ur using but all others ive seen are felt. Which would you recommend?

I've never used felt ones I believe they was fitted to later defenders. 🙂👍

I would have hated being the guy who had to fit those small bolts on the track at Landrover!!,

Definitely there a real pain. 🙂👍

Can I ask where you got the seals from, I need to replace mine on a series 2A and the new ones I got are Britpart and have a solid profile whereas yours look like they have a recess running round the periphery to accept the rim of the flap.

Hi, I got them a while ago they was most likely from paddocks spares but to be honest I buy so much stuff from so many different places I couldn't be 100% on that as they weren't in a bag or box sorry to be so vague. 🙂👍

What contact adhesive do you use to stick the seals on with ??
@retro.restorations2 жыл бұрын
I used a high strength contact adhesive one that's specific for outside use I can't remember the brand unfortunately but there's plenty available. 🙂👍

Hi thanks for this post. Can I ask if you have a video of removing the read diff assembly from a Series 3. 109? I am working on a farm find and value your advice. Thanks Paul

Hi, sorry I haven't done a full axel strip video but I can do a quick description of how to do it in my next vid if that helps. Thanks Craig 🙂👍
