You state that piston rings should never be placed on the piston by hand for various reasons and then when the three piece ring set is assembled on the piston it is done by hand and not with piston ring pliers, contradictory or what!

TheRebelOne no, as far as I can see, the last rings are very thin, so they won’t get permanent deformation. The first two rings indeed, are thicker and prone to damage.

Maan i should have seen this video before, now i've spent almost 40 usd on piston rings that don't fit, i would never imagined that the piston rings are built in micrometer range, this level of engineering is more like a level of lack of engineering, if you are gonna design an engine that requires such a level of manufacturing then the engine is almost useless, to reach micrometer levels there is a huge and expensive machinery behind that makes the product not profitable in the other hand, it makes the product to be a detriment factor to the economy. Real engineering departs from the basis of using high level of error so anybody can repair or use spare parts. That's why the AK-47 assault rifle will be overall a better rifle than the AR-15, well, it's like brute force vs engineering, at the end it's hard to decide.
