Fitting SIDE BARS to a VW Transporter - VW T6 Camper Van

A great video for those of us who don't have access to a vehicle ramp. I used my levelling ramps to raise the van slightly. Anyone reading this, I didn't and don't climb under the van. Levelling ramps aren't intended to support a vehicle while working on it.👍

Really helpful. Just got the exact same set but in black and the instructions that came with it are terrible. They seemed to show that the brackets had the hanging down part on the outside at the front and on the inside at the back rather than on the outside front and back (if that makes sense). I didn’t think it looked right and would have probably figured it out myself but seeing someone else install it first is really helpful. Cheers.

Hi have you checked the bars for rust? If you see the Dubventures channel in KZbin they had to replace theirs recently as they were rusted out inside. One tip I have see is to fill the hollow inside of them with expanding foam so as to stop water ingress. Another great video. Keep up the good work and hope you can get out soon for more adventures 👍

I put some black bars on last week after watching this, so thanks. Chrome looks great on yours but our T5 is blue so went for blacks to match the fiamma awning. The Mrs says black and blue looks like a bruise, but it definitely goes faster now!! Next job is new alloys...

Mine arrived a couple of days ago.....just waiting for the rain to stop for more than 5 mins to get them on...along with the black lettering, new grill and LED headlights :)

Great and helpful video. Did u remove plastic completely or just enough to gain access. Also dodbu have to cut the plastic when put back?

I just bent it back in to position so that if I ever remove the bars it will look stock again :)

@@thomasanderson4127 hiya, just had a look and the seller i bought them off no longer sells them sadly :( .... However, the ones I bought didn't have special brackets though bud, I just forced the plastic back up and popped the screws in and it held.. ill see if I can find a similar one on ebay... give me a sec

@@thomasanderson4127 so just had a look and these side bars have the same brackets as the ones I used on mine. Just make sure you have the right length (SWB or LWB etc) and the correct model (i.e. T4 T5 T6 etc) www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362844734496 Hope this helps bud

Dont know really, the white and black look is good and then you get chrome bars🤔

🤣🤣 I did a mock up on photoshop with the black bars and as much as I liked them, i wanted some chrome bling (like my door handles are now), the black bars just disappeared and you didn't really notice them.... Not only that but everyone goes for black bars and I wanted to be a rebel 🤣🤣
