I'm flattered but Sean Connery, as a Scot, would probably not have appreciated being confused with an Englishman! 😀

I like them tight so I deflate my tire before putting them on. Then once they are one somewhat tight, I inflate the tire to specification and that locks the chains on taut.

Your tire chains are on backwards. You need to flip them so the sharp edges of the Cross hooks are not into the tire..

Thanks, I know, one of them is round the wrong way although not a disaster. I actually think I mentioned it when I made the video...

I don't know if it works on garden tractor tires but I know some let the air out of their tires. Then put the chains on and re-inflate. These tires are low pressure so that might not work. Also use heavy duty bungee cords in a cross pattern to hold them tight. I'll be trying this myself soon. Jody.

Yes, I have tried that in the past. However, as you mention, the air pressure in these tires is low anyway (I run them at about 15 psi), so difference is negligible...

I bought a set of tires on the same bolt hole pattern as my 425 but they are only 5” wide I got chains for them and with the wheel weight on and 200 lbs of weight on the back I have never been stuck

Instead of the zip ties just buy a threaded link for the inside hook Also you should just take a visegrips and close the loop on the end of the outside tensioner hook . Then you don't have to worry about losing it.

Having the chains a little loose gives better traction. Kind of like winter tires for vehicles, they need a little flex for good traction. And I don’t think it would matter which way the hooks on the cross chain are. I doubt if they would ever harm the tire. And some people flip the chains over each year, so they wear evenly. Just my thought.

Where did you get the chains for the tires?

I like the zips-I just take the wheel off and bounce it to loosen up the chain while maintains some pulling tension.

Would like to see assembly of the cab for your tractor
@tesser52505 жыл бұрын
The cab is all finished but still in pieces awaiting assembly on the tractor. Unfortunately I have not had the time and we've already had a couple of feet of snow here. I will certainly post video once it is done...

That's weird the second part of your video it looks like you flip them correctly

It is over a year ago and I may have fixed it between video clips....
