It's alive!! In the 5th part of the Hanimex E300 screen mod project I show in detail how I fitted the electronics & LCD screen to a 1970s film editor.
Here's a link to the playlist for this series: • Hanimex E300 Retro Scr...

Hello! I have just build one of these with a raspberry pi 5 for a cyberdeck. I cannot tell you how useful these tutorials were. Particularly your guide on making cuts for the screen fitting was invaluable. Thank you so much!

Brilliant; I'm so glad it's helped.. this type of video doesn't get many views, but it's comments like this which make my time doing it worth it! 😊

The only video I haven’t yet shot is the final result, so you should have everything you need to do the project.. but if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch 🙂

Are you thinking of integrating the Pi into it, or doing the same as me and have a hdmi socket?

@@Endpoint101 integrating the pi, and if I can fit it a decent sized UPS so i can run it off battery power

Hey! This is a longshot, but I recently got the same model at a thrift store, and I'm looking into modding it similar to yours. Is it possible for you to upload the final result?

Hi! I never got around to creating a final look at the result. I do have a few pictures of it from Oct 2022 but intended to do a video showing it in action, together with how to set the screen orientation. Due to the low number of views on the series I guess I lost enthusiasm, but really should do a Part 6 to finish it off! I'll see whether I can put something together, so hit Subscribe & you'll get notified on my uploads. In the mean time, the other parts give you what you need to do this mod yourself, but feel free to ask questions if you hit anything you want a hand with.

Hi, I noticed the menu is correctly showed even you mounted the display upside down. The controller board you are using automatically flip the OSD menu or there is this setting that can be manually adjusted?

Well spotted! I’d meant to mention that in the video, and had filmed it too.. completely forgot to edit it in. I’ll include it in the final part. Yes, there’s an option in the menus to configure which way the display goes; it took a bit of googling, because the menu text doesn’t really explain what it does. I’ll see if I can find the settings & update the video description. Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂

@@Endpoint101 Hello, do you have an estimate of when you will publish the final part of the project? I'm looking forward to seeing it finished and I'm also curious how do you flipped the OSD menu.

@@luctrev I'm planning on doing it when I get a bit of time to myself.. was thinking in a couple of months when the lighting in the kitchen gets a bit better. I'm *really* pleased to hear you're looking forward to it. In the meantime, if you are attempting this yourself and want advice, I'm happy for you to reach out to me (see my channel info for more details).

@@Endpoint101 Yes, I am working on something similar. I have an E300 here and I want to turn it into a RaspPC for my little daughter to run some educational software. I already made the modifications to the cabinet, systematized the USB and power inputs, installed the LCD, but I stopped when I realized that I can't change the OSD orientation, my controller didn't come with a manual and I can't contact the manufacturer, so I'm stopped. Just like you, I have little free time, so I'm trying to cut corners by following the evolution of your project.

@@luctrev I've had a look through some of my unedited video & found the one re. screen orientation. You need to bring up the main menu, go down to Tools, then Mode, and switch it from SYS3 to SYS2 (or vice versa). Hope this helps!
