I've used these a few times since recording this, have a look at my Instagram for updates :) Also! There is a low battery warning flash but I don't believe it turns off the grips. If you have any questions on the grips let me know in the comments!

My daughter and I watched this video numerous times to discuss how well the lighting is in this video. I found that if I don't hook my heated grips up to the battery, but to the wire that the corporation recommends that they don't get warm enough to penetrate heavier gloves.
@TheGorillaBiker3 жыл бұрын
Ah thank you! I would take credit but it's honestly mostly my new lens and a bit of post editing :) Yeah that's what I've heard as well and these are nicely hot on the way to work so I don't really want to mess with them. They are a lifesaver on sub 4 degree mornings.

A good install video. I liked the pre install assembly. Really see how it would go together. So good luck with them.. Now you won't ride the other bikes lol. Have to get them for the entire stable!

Thanks :) Glad it worked, I feel a lot of the actual build of things can be lost when you just launch in to the install bit! Haha I think I prefer having nice grippy ones on the GSX-R...they'd be lovely on the Magna tho!! :)

I should get a set for my daily commuter (Honda CB125E). More likely to ride during winter then. I think you will find the reason they left the positive cable bare is so you can either wire it onto the ignition side of battery. Or, if you are wiring direct to the battery , you can add an in line fuse.
@TheGorillaBiker3 жыл бұрын
You should! That early morning chill is way easier to ignore now :) Yep and those CB125s do like 2,000,000 mpg don't they so really you'd be making money :D There's already an inline fuse built in, apparently it's so you can easily wire it to a relay etc, but I'd rather get all the hardware you'd possibly need up front :)

Heated grips make a huge difference. I splurged and purchased the Yamaha heated grips. My Yamaha FJ-09 (MT09 Tracer) came pre-wired, so it was pretty much plug and play. The thing I like about the factory ones, is they the grip icon appears on my cluster and I can adjust the heat via the existing menu toggle switch.

A good addition ! for me not so much as I don't commute on mi bike in fact if it's cold ( as I to hate the cold I want to live in Spain ) don't go out in it .But having said that maybe first I might try the heated gloves that have their own battery just cos it's easier than fittin grips , although ya do have a limited time of heat . but they are very neat and I do like the switch set up on the grip probably cheaper than heated gloves too . Nice one : )

It is indeed :) Man I hope to move to a warmer climate at some point in my life, Ireland is lovely but I just. Hate. Cold. That said commuting on a bike isn't always an option for me and having this is honestly so much better, I honestly didn't think it would be but my god so much more pleasant :D I thought about gloves but any that have good heat and good fall protection seem to be about 250-300 quid :/ Thanks man!

wee tip i learned years ago for getting grips off if you have a compressor. stick the air line/gun under the grip. pretty much shoots off.

Ive used it in the past myself tis handy, I sadly do not have a working compressor at the minute!
@Srgthe3 жыл бұрын
@@TheGorillaBiker bugger the old compressor is handy to have. as for the grips not turning off completely could you put a relay in the line from battery feeding of the headlight or tail light so it only gets power from the battery when the ignition is on?
@TheGorillaBiker3 жыл бұрын
It is indeed, I have an old one here just have to fix it :) I could do but I'll just splice it in to the rear brake switch if I ever feel the need to since that cable is only about 2cm from the battery :)

I added heated grips to my V-Strom last fall. Bottom line I used them once and not at all this spring. Here in Canada it gets cold and the heated grips don't really work for your fingers which are the first to suffer from cold. I can do without them. I have no inclination to add them to my other bikes. One of my riding buddies has heated boot inserts and heated gloves. Maybe a better option as they do warm the fingers and toes
@TheGorillaBiker3 жыл бұрын
I used mine all week and it was -2 to 4 degrees setting off in the mornings. I found it was the difference between being uncomfortable and fine to be honest so I'm delighted with them. I can imagine if it gets much colder you at minimum need good hand guards or muffs to seal in the heat a bit more. Heated wearable gear is definitely a warmer alternative, but the only gloves that interested me so far are veeeeeeeeeeeeeery expensive so I'll do without for now :) It doesn't get cold enough here to warrant it thankfully.
@Banditmanuk3 жыл бұрын
Heated grips, definitely my first modification. I've never seen heated grips by this manufacturer so interested how they hold up. I like the neat control that's part of the grip, my Oxford have a large controller that I don't like. The plus point of the Oxford is they sense when the battery is not being charged and turn the grips off way before it flats the battery.
@TheGorillaBiker3 жыл бұрын
I'll be doing it fairly sharpish from now on. Unreal difference in the mornings. Yeah I put them on the CBF so they get a good mileage done and I'll do a review on them after a few thousand miles then :) Hopefully they hold up well, the rubber seems good and strong so we shall see. That's my favourite bit, they're nice and neat, it's honestly what stopped me getting the oxfords a few times was the size of that and I didn't know where I'd fit it. I've read that doesn't actually work as it only turns off at 12V or so, these flash to warn you of low battery which is just as useful if you leave them on really :D
@andrewdugdale70433 жыл бұрын
Are these wired into your battery directly? Do you need to make sure you turn them off when stopped and bike off?
@Banditmanuk3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewdugdale7043 If you are referring to my Oxford grips then yes wired directly to battery and no they will turn themselves off when they sense the battery isn't being charged (ie the bike is turned off) it may take a minute but they've never flattened the battery.
