the orientation of the batteries having the pluses on one side and negatives on the other probably hints that the batteries are in parallel and not in series. this means that whatever the voltage rating of one battery is is the voltage of the flashlight. those that require two batteries tend to be oriented plus with minus (differently) because it then requires double the voltage of a single battery. and that means two batteries together in this flashlight doubles the potential of its overall operating time. i don’t know if this particular model comes in black but uv with black would be my preference.
@FittoSurvive18 күн бұрын
I didn't even pay attention to thay, but you are absolutely right.. Makes sense. Yes! It does come in black with UV. 👍🏻👍🏻
@squirts115 күн бұрын
That's not how runtime works... You tried really hard to sound like you know what you're talking about, but you only know half of it and your conclusion is incorrect. Parallel vs series does not affect runtime. Wattage affects runtime (volts * amps). You can supply a device with 200 volts, but only push 2 amps and it will consume the same amount of total power (watts) as a device supplied with 2 volts at 200 amps. Also, many lights have boost drivers that increase the input voltage... On the other hand, many lights have buck drivers which step down (reduce) the input voltage.
@pooofykittens15 күн бұрын
@@iblackfeathers Whether batteries are connected in series or in parallel doesn’t directly affect the runtime. It’s only the driver’s efficiency with a specific source voltage and LED voltage and the total battery capacity that matters. And of course the LED efficiency itself.

My Logitech G602 wireless mouse is 10 years old. It also has parallel battery placement, and it is able to work on one battery. 2 AA batteries tend to last me at least 2 months. I'm surprised that parallel battery placement isn't as common as it should be.

Right? Seems like it should be a standard for so many electronics. I was legitimately surprised to see this in a flashlight. Like you said, it's not new tech...

so they have a bicycle mount to use it as a bike light and it is advertised as having this capability, but lacks the usual bicycle flasher mode? The UI is absolutely horrible - who thought of this that you should go to Turbo first to have an adjustable ramp for all 4 emitters but otherwise for the individual ones only a stepped mode? no moonlight mode either. The side light could have had a nice warm CCT 3000K - 4000K emitter instead of the same CW as the front light. It does have the cool-factor / look at first and a bunch of emitters but in reality, it is a disappointing and half-baked product. It is powder-coated and not anodized. Aluminum construction but no protective glass bezel for the emitters and optics and the side light is made entirely of plastic and feels very flimsy. Wuben could have done a lot better on this platform if they spent the time to think it thru and the UI needs a major re-work. IMHO this is $35 light, not $70+ (Oh...and the brightness of the UV light is not adjustable and no proper UV filter.
