I am currently in a data Engineer role 2.5 yrs so far (although we rarely do data engineering work. I would say I do more data science / data analyst work). I am noticing a serious decline in roles that I would be qualified for. Mainly because the mid level and even some entry level roles are requiring everything under the sun! (machine learning experience, NLP, excellent SQL, Cloud technologies experience, software dev experience, phd preferred, and much more). I am in the middle of my masters in data science, working full time in a data role, and yet I feel like I am so far behind the curve of what companies want in terms of skills. Any thoughts or advice?

Im in a similar position, but i almost have no experience (besides a research position i had). Its kinda overwhelming because we need to understand almost everything for a entry level position. Honestly i think the best its to get a paid internship and after that maybe get an entry level position. I think in your position a good portfolio with a focus on analysis and maybe ML and a really good CV might be enough because you already have some experience. You might just need to show with projects the skills you have outside of DE.

@@cozmo7344 I agree with your assessment. I had 3 paid internships with the same company that hired me before I got hired. Also I would say contract roles are good too. Anything to get experience. Its rough out there and I wish you the best of luck!

All it's take is SQL, TABLEAU, EXCEL,PYTHON anybody can learn it and replace me, Sir how can i become top 1 % in BA profession in short period of time. As I don't want to be replaced by another BA
