Alcohol markers dont actually take longer to dry, in fact it's actually the total opposite. Alcohol evaporates and dries almost instantly. I've noticed you've said this on a few videos having to do with markers before so I thought I'd just mention it. The reason they blend well has to do more with the ability to layer together and not smudge rather than what we usually think of when it comes to blending

I have a local 5 Below and I have gotten some art supplies from there and some of it is ok but there is a lot of stuff that isn’t that good. Sometimes it’s cheaper to just get more better quality art supplies for that price. Also the one time I got canvases and they weren’t that good (I don’t know much about canvases but they didn’t look good). Also I got the watercolor brush pens from them and they were bad too. A lot of their stuff is good but you have to be aware that they are meant for kids and not for professional artists so some of them ate cheaply made or not professional quality. But that really isn’t too much of a problem and a lot of it is still good. Sorry for rambling also there is more in the store then on the website. Also I basically bought all the animal crossing amiibo from there Edit: rip. I went to 5 below and I found the alcohol markers. Also those water based markers are super stinky

These would actually be great gifts for a kid who is interested in getting into art. $5 and under for what seem to at least be intermediate quality supplies, if not leaning into artist quality. Kids honestly deserve decent quality art supplies too. I used to get so discouraged that my art wasn't turning out well, only to try some better quality supplies and realize it wasn't just my lack of talent that was making my art turn out poorly. I hate to think how many kids have given up on their artistic dreams because of not having access to quality supplies.

I love, love, LOVE five below. I bought some makeup brushes at five below, no kidding like, SEVEN YEARS AGO. And I still use them regularly. In comparison, I had an elf foundation brush, and it literally fell apart on me while washing it a month after buying it. I have an old sketchbook and I almost finished it. But I've used color pencil, markers, pens, and even acrylic paint in it. My favorite drawings are in that book. I also never leave the store without buying a $5 funny or cute t shirt. Because they're so cheap, I don't feel bad cutting them up and making different stuff with them. Five below is the best store.

@@kadencemaria3086 How much water the paper can handle. Most people that do watercolor painting get 80+ pound paper, and alcohol markers need more than that. My current books are 85 lb and can handle 'light watercolor', so not a lot of water but some. I def can't use my alchohol markers as it will, without a doubt, leak through onto the next page and not just the back of the paper unlike my usual 100 lb. (the 120-150 I used to use a lot didn't bleed super bad unless I was doing heavy blending- I stopped as it was fairly expensive and didn't come in travel sized booklets often) It's also how thick the paper is, which relates to the water retention. The 60 pounds mentioned means it's nothing more than basic notebook paper, and will sog and become see-through with most watery media! 90+ is best for paints and markers, with 140+ being for the heavy duty professional paints and such :)

Oh my god! I have the dip pen set and its actually really good, I noticed you had to shake the Inks quite a bit before using it for the first time. The pen is pretty standard, writes really smoothly. The biggest compliment I have for it is the cartridge's that you fill with ink, rather than it being a normal dip pen you have the option to make it a fountain pen with a refillable and easy to clean cartridge's. There is one complaint, Teal is a blue color but one of the bottles had the label "teal" but was a sunflower yellow instead. Some inks write nicer than others as well.

That first sketchbook you showed. I have it. I actually liked it, but the only thing I didn't like. Was my graphite always rubbed off VERY easily. Much easier then like a regular sketchbook. But all-in-all I actually lived the sketchbook. I also LOVE those artists pens. They are so good! I love themmmm! I was able to find an even bigger pack, with like 18 pens at 5 Below. For $5! I got the ink pen set! And I LOVE IT!!!!!! Everything is so glittery. I loved through pigments. And that sketching kit you got, I got the same one but for calligraphy. I LOVE FIVE BELOW SOOOO MUCH!!! 😂😂 Also as a 14 year old. That's really all I can afford on my own. Lol.

I like you love mechanical pencils and used to buy the cheap ones, but then I realised three things 1. The lead in the isnt great 2. You can buy leads in different grades im a 2b kinda gal and c. I was hurting the environment every time I threw them Way, I bought myself two new good pencils one 0.5 and one 0.7 in size. I also bought hb leads and 2b leads in both sizes. It cost me in all about £20 so thats roughly $25. The pencils are the cheaper pentel graph gear and are a dream to use as are better weighted than a cheap pencil, i also don't break or use so much lead, (plus the lead is smoother to use less scratchy). I've had these pencils several years now and they are still going strong, I wanted to share this as I've realised I was being conned by the idea I was getting a great deal, I wasn't ive saved enough money to treat myself to other yummy art supplies and saved a bit of plastic from the landfill. I really recommend swapping up when it comes to pencils you don't need to spend a fortune but it makes a big difference to your art, pocket, hands (because of the weight I dont need to grip as hard and they are more ergonomically designed) and on the environment. I love your videos and seeing you post brings a,pardon the pun, Ray of sunshine into my life thank you for being your ama5self and sharing your art with us all, with best wishes Lindz

I just found this video, but 5 Below also has 38 sheets of 300gsm watercolor pads for $5 as well. It isn’t very textured, but it is a great value, especially if you have kids that enjoy painting and need some thick paper that can stand up to the deluge of water and scrubbing that kids do with paint brushes and watercolor.

You should check out the watercolor brush pens personally I really like them they blend so well ☺️💕

There's a specific kind of mechanical pencil that I prefer and they come in packs of 2 usually. They're pretty expensive for a mechanical pencil, but I get wrist cramps when I use smaller, cheaper pencils.
