Growing up in the 70s, it was common to hear music like this coming from every house on a Sunday as you walked to the corner store for candy. Mamas and daddys relaxing on a Sunday before the work week.

I'm 27 I grew up listening to them. Wow I didn't know just how far back they went. My daddy is 40 years old than me so he was born 1946 listening to so many Gospel Classics. I just found out that I knew some Sam Cooke songs too, but now with the power of youtube as I look up some of the songs I remember playing on cassette tapes in my daddy's truck I can see what a huge time gap it really was. Most people my age probably didn't listen to stuff that far back. Sweet Sweet memories :)

Tremendous! Many great singers were in both Blind Boys groups, including JT Clinkscales in this footage. I had the great pleasure of being with the whole group all night in their hotel room in Manhattan when they were doing the play "Gospel At Colonus". I was in glory land with Clarence Fountain, JT Clinkscales, Ollice Thomas etc... Percel Perkins and Archie Brownlee were my favorite singers.

Big Henry Johnson was an amazing singer. He was able to sing from C5 to A1, with him poliphonical "scream" , that can be heard in "Lord you've been good to me", probably one of the most incredible voices of that time, unfortunatelly forgotten from internet.
