In humans its one too. Notice that most people dont stare straight at your eyes constantly even when directly talking. Usually you only stare hard to get a point across somewhat aggressively, like telling someone to remember a certain thing or not break a certain rule. My cat always, and I mean always, followed me into the shower. I had to keep pushing her away with my foot (gently of course), so that she wouldn't get any of my shampoo or body wash on her when I rinsed it off. And no. Closing the door didn't help, since she could open it, and that door didn't have a working lock (the key to it had gone missing). So yeah, most of my showers I had a shower buddy 😂

I believe that's because cats have a second, much less visible pair of eyelids. So while it might not look like they're blinking, they're totally cheating in those staring contests I could totally be wrong tho because idk where I heard that from. Would have to look it up Edit - I'm wrong. They have nictitaing membranes under their normal eyelids. They're not see-through, but rather a milky white!

With one of my cats, Belle, she will follow me to the bathroom for a shower, and just chill on the towel shelf, when i go to the bathroom, she'll just rub against me. Try to climb up on me. At this point, it's not making sure I'm okay, It's separate anxiety

However, this is nonsense, since animals express their emotions differently than people and almost every animal does it in its own way. Cats and dogs are simply different and express their emotions differently. For example, if a dog is happy to see you, then it will wag its tail and may try to lick you, but if a cat wags its tail, it means that he is annoyed, and licking for a cat generally means dominance and therefore cats can lick each other and then fight.

My cat, Skittle, would come 'guard' me when I showered. When we got a walk-in tub/shower, Skittle inspected it carefully. I was surprised that she still declined to actually go inside the tub. But apparently it passed her safety test & she stopped staying in the bathroom during my showers. 🥲 She moved on to the🌈 Rainbow Bridge about 6 mos ago. Love you & miss you, my Skittle Dee!

My cat has two uses for being with their back turned to me: 1) sleeping, or just sitting: comfortable, like butt pats and cuddling 2) after I don't let her climb on me, or when i piss her off: is mad, goes to the opposite end of the bed, pretend she isn't listening to me even when i can see her ears turned to me, has tail aggressively wagging (after 5 minutes she is fine and comes back to me)
