Somehow the Brooklyn became our "I want to get F'd up cocktail"... After we've had enough, or have been having quite a few, if one of us wants the Brooklyn, it means this night is going in another direction... Earlier this month, my wife was over some of the juice cocktails we were having and said, I want something stronger, like the Brooklyn... Good video and looking forward to the Friday one! My father-in-law loves a Manhattan, I think... He doesn't want Rye, he wants some random bartender to make it, and the correct way to make it is not the way he prefers... I bought my first bottle of Rittenhouse to make him a proper manhattan and he thought it was good (which is a compliment, because genetically that entire family bitches about everything and is never happy) but prefers the cheapest bourbon you can find...

I do get a good amount of people wanting bourbon Manhattans at the hotel. Sounds like your life could be a great sitcom. LOL

Love them ALL though I infrequently make teh New York Sour since we do not drink much wine.

We don't drink a lot of them at home either. Because we usually drink an entire bottle at once. Lol

This boy from The Bronx appreciates your efforts! Have a great time in my original hometown! I've never made a Bronx cocktail, and I'm aware of its rises and falls in popularity. Some day I'll give it a go, especially since I'm from there! One thing I've read is that it might be better using a Blanc Vermouth rather than a dry one to make it a bit rounder and somewhat less acidic, and perhaps splitting the OJ with some lemon juice.... By the way, I'm a bit bummed that Riley did not know the five boroughs, of which the Bronx is the only one that's part of the North American mainland and not an island. Manhattan is an island, Staten Island obviously an island, Brooklyn and Queens are both on the same island that contains the non-NYC Long Island. Cheers!

I think she was playing it up for the camera. Lol 🤷 I like the idea of Blanc vermouth. I'm excited to visit and have some great cocktails.

@@carl_busch I'm happy to hear she wasn't serious! I'm sure you have the quite the list already of bars to try to hit while you are in NYC, especially those in Brooklyn. I have a real old school favorite (140 years old!) that isn't a hip craft cocktail bar, but it does make great classic drinks and is a real saloon, a slice of old NYC: PJ Clarke's at 915 Third Avenue on the northeast corner of East 55th Street in Manhattan. It'll be out of your way, and you probably won't make it there (this time), but I thought I'd mention it because I love it and visit every time I'm back home.

I adore the classic Manhattan so much and there are some spectacular riffs! I love all of these except the Bronx and it's the OJ. It's an ingredient that often ruins a cocktail for me. The Manhattan and the Brooklyn are huge favourites! I have had different variations of the Brooklyn. So delicious! If you can ever access Amer Picon grab it! I have to have that for a real Brooklyn! I have only ever found it in Paris. The classic Brooklyn is my favourite but I enjoy Ander's version a lot! Cocktails in Manhattan are amazing. I think they are the best! Try the Greenpoint!! Delicious!! I love the city and talk about amazing bars!! Brooklyn has some fantastic new bars! Terrific video Carl and Riley!! Cheers!! 🙂
