I’m learning guitar at 55yrs old and want to be able to play things I feel ! Some these classical pieces just resonate inside of me just like some acoustic blues does too and you show they can be just as sweet on a steel string guitar 😳👍🏻👍🏻
@kckong33 жыл бұрын
congratulations on being a father! I always had a feeling that classical training would give one a solid foundation to build on & you're proof of that! I guess you trained with a classical guitar too ... when did you move on to steel string & electrics. Would be an idea to make a video of your guitar journey

Congrats on the new joyful arrival. The first classical piece was hair raising. The tonal quality of your guitar playing has inspired me to learn guitar at this late age. Hope you continue to inspire others. God Bless you and your family.

I stopped playing guitar for almost 16 years. Some of those pieces you are playing are familiar to my ears and it urges me to pick up my guitar for one more time. You have inspired me alot.

Great video. As a side note, @11:21 you say: "why didn't I write this; why didn't I think of writing this. The second section is unbelievable"--then you go on to play a piece that begins with the first three chords of a progression from the Hollies "The Air I Breathe" or the first 3 chords of the chorus to Radiohead's "Creep." If you travel long enough down this journey we call music, one finds there are many paths leading to the same place. Just a thought.

Hi Tom. Thanks for pointing this out. I agree with you 100%. At the end of the day, we all have access to the same set of notes, right? Yes, I used the same chord progression many times, but I never though of playing it with that unique set of voicings and chords. ☀️🎸

Thank you for writing the music for download. Since I realised that part 2 of Sagreras still had to be written I ordered Le seconde Lezioni di Chitarra online and have just finished writing the tabs. Very confusing when you are a beginner with tabs and not a prolific reader of music. This shows a lot of work on your part, thank you. What programme do you use for writing the music and tabs? I have been using either Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word and then writing the lines afterwards, perhaps you can enlighten us? Your playing of Sagreras lesson 6 showed a lot of feeling and expression that was not shown by others playing this piece. The only difference I am going to add to the music are chord tabs because they are not familiar to me and in the hope they will help me to learn it faster. So happy to be a patroen.

Am I hallucinating a little bit, or is #6 @10:15 about a passing tone or two from a blues piece? Do you ever experiment with phrasing when you practice these, or is that too disrespectful? I also noticed you played part of one piece with what looked like Travis/Mayer thumb and index finger picking. (ala Neon). I'm pretty stupid about such things, so I usually don't know if it's a moment of clarity or a psychotic episode. I really like your take on things though, whether I really get it or not.

Quick question: I'd like to learn fingerstyle guitar. I also work in a hospital, and long nails are a no-go for infection control reasons (which TBH I think everyone is pretty okay with). Any ideas to get around fingerstyle with short nails while still sounding relatively decent? I mean, to be fair I'm not gonna be performing, just enjoying making music. But advice is always greatly appreciated.
