When you mentioned books my recommendation is to go to a library or second-hand book store. The library can save you money too. If the library does not have a book usually they will buy it to be added to the collection. Although it might take a few weeks to get the books in. Libraries will also have digital collections too. If you are more into reading e-books or e-audiobooks. Another tip if you have books that you don't need any more to see what your local library policy has on donating books. They will sometimes have one or an ongoing book sale. Libraries will sometimes add donated books to the collection. Also, try the school library if you are in school from lower grades through college age. If you have any questions let me know. I work for the public library sector.

Another awesome thing I've recently been using are "Little Free Libraries"! Most towns have a few of these and there's an online map to find them in your area. It's a great way to trade a book you've already read and get a new one, for free!

I’m also loving the Libby app to check out books from my local library digitally

Have spent last 15 years working on sustainability, and last 18 months talking about that work on my own YT channel, and more than anything what I love about these vids is how engaging the content is. There is a lot of room for each of us to take steps, develop habits, and have a positive/ reduced impact on the world.

Thanks. I appreciate your content. That said I think there are some things that need to be said. The cost of good food at the store or farmers market can actually exceed a meal out depending on where you live. Public transportation is not always available or is limited in many places. It can also take a horribly longer time and be inefficient to get to the pick-up areas. After trying for some time to work within the existing local transportation infrastructure in two cities and finding it was really inefficient I finally gave up.
@LeahandLevi4 жыл бұрын
Yeah there's always limitations for different areas. You sort of have to play to your communities strengths. You might not have zero waste shopping options, but maybe there's a large farm cooperative you can be a part of. Etc. You have to make it work for you right?

I've been living without a car forever and now that I have babies I need a car. Also I live in Denver and as much as I like public transportation the cost of a car is almost the same as ridding the bus because of the new infostructure. Also bring 2 babies on the bus is hard.

I recently heard something about internet and streaming being as harmful to the environment as passenger flights. is is that true? you know something about it? I would love to see a video about the on this channel
@LeahandLevi4 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know much about that but it seems hard to imagine? Everything we do has an impact on the planet, but comparing flights to streaming seems a little unfair? If there's an opportunity to chat about it I will.
@axhlo4 жыл бұрын
@@LeahandLevi Check out the book "Inconspicuous Consumption" which talks about the little forms of environmental impact we have but never consider (like streaming). I don't think it's fair to compare to flying in terms of our individual use, but the overall concept is very interesting!
