Cruise control is the only thing the Rogue really needs. Don’t need the fancy gauge cluster, or ride modes distracting from the ride itself. As far as the smaller gas tank, it’s fine. Stopping often to take in the sights and stretch your legs is what makes touring on a motorcycle fun. My nephew ordered a Rogue and I’m looking forward to checking it out when he gets it.

Ive had my 2023 Scout Rogue for about a month now and have put a little over 1000 miles on it. The ONLY thing I wish it had was cruise control. A bigger tank would be nice, but thats why we have bigger bikes in general. I ride back and forth to work (about 25 miles one way) and typically fill up a couple times a week. No big deal since its like $15 at a time at most. I typically have a backpack on me so I dont care about the saddlebags much, but man if this bike had cruise control it would be damn near perfect

The guy knows what he’s talking about - I bought a Rogue and absolutely love it. AFTER I changed the exhaust to Indians 2-1. Added the piggy back shocks out back, and an LED headlight. Great bike!

Cruise control. That’s all it needs. It’s all any cruiser needs. Factory cruise control. It already has a USB port for power, get a quad lock, power you phone and there’s your nav/music done.

Excellent observations and recommendations. Though I no longer have my ISB because I was hit head-on and it was totaled, when I went to get back on a new one, it was just lacking. Your recommendations are spot-on, especially the storage issue. My only concern is the 19" front tire because it limits you in tire choices if you want a matched set. Finally, the rear suspension needs an overhaul. I'll still take the Scout over the Chief because I prefer liquid-cooled over the look of air-cooled. Maybe the Challenger is a better choice.

Technically the Bobber's tire is taller than the Rogue. The Bobber uses a 90 series tire which is 25.2 inches in diameter and the 60 series tire that the Rogue comes with is 25.1 inches in diameter. It's gonna be a preference of looks mainly

The scouts are great looking bikes. I like the rogue version the best due to the bars, black out and front wheel. The thing that is a show stopper for me is the lack of cruise control. At least make it an accessory. Also the headlight needs to be LED.

@@Enviouslordshaxx You can buy an LED light from Indian or do what I did and buy one from Eagle Lights. As for the cruise control, that is easy. Install a Throttle Lock by Atlus. Easy to install and disengages when you squeeze the front break.

@@flesz_ You won't find that standard on a medium cruiser at that price point. At least not the throttle lock. The LED light that Indian sells is supposed to be a smart light and is far overpriced in my opinion. I am happy with my Eagle Lights headlamp.

Having ridden the scout rogue I find it way more comfortable then the standard bobber. Having said that there are two major deficits that any new owner would need to address… first the rear shock, it has almost no travel and your spine will feel every bump in the road. So you need to add $500-1000 to get the fox shock or something similar. The second thing is the exhaust which is way too quiet and anaemic. No fuel gauge in 2023 is also pretty lame. Apart from that it’s awesome. The riding position is great with the mini apes and the forward controls.

I get 130 miles on my scout 60 2021 with no problem, and I love to ride it on the highway at 70mph all day long. anyway, Indians rule! the Tribe is Back. PS the scout 60 seat is super comfortable for long-distance riding all day long.

For bags and other storage options - aftermarket is the answer. Better options, with and without locks, quick detach or not, soft over a hard liner or hard shell, and best of all... THEY'RE ALL LESS EXPENSIVE! Even Ends Cuiouiiuuoo cost less for more.

Good observations. I agree with most of your thoughts, but owning the standard Scout, I cannot visualize a larger tank without jacking up the looks of current model. I am more accustomed to larger tanks also but can always get 140 mi. out of mine before refueling. Storage / luggage capacity is also a pain, but I do not see any other options than saddle bags. I knew this when purchasing, and was not an issue for me, as most trips are not overnight. I agree that dual discs up front would be an asset, but also believe Indian was looking at a specific price point when they introduced the Rogue. Maybe the logic is a person will move up after a year of two. Nice video.

I agree that a larger looking tank could mess up the lines, so I think the center of the tank is where it would need to expand, and maybe move the intake to the side like the larger Indian engines. The saddlebags on the standard Scout are great, but they don't fit on the Bobber or Rogue, which is why storage is such a problem. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Unfortunately if you already own an ISB, there isn't enough change to make me want to go Rogue. If I were buying today, sure, but most already have mods on their bikes. I have the 60 with no performance mods. Perhaps if I wanted to upgrade to standard Bobber, I'd go this route.

Just watched RickyBobberMoto's video about the Rogue and i think he hit the nail on the head.....Indian wants to keep the Scout at an entry level price. Sure, I'd love to see a 1300cc Scout with digital navigation and electronic cruise control, but a bike like that would eat into the Chiefs sales. IF you are wanting those upgrades, that IS what the Chief is for, and I'm thankful they delivered it! The Rogue is just another choice for entry level riders and keeping the price point low was Indians goal on this bike.

I am 65 and have some arthritis coming on. I have been riding off and on for 50 years. One aspect of the Scout line that caught my attention was the low weight compared to other cruisers of the same class and the constant descriptions of the bike being nimble. The Chief weighs close to 700 lbs clocking in at 670 compared to the Scouts 545. I would like to have the option of purchasing the tech without the added weight and displacement which may not be a viable option for many such as myself. I understand it from Indian's concern over losing Chief sales to the lower costs bikes but in the long run I can see it being more financially prudent for them to attract buyers wanting more tech at a lower bike size. Just my opinion.

Others are lower weight making it easier to handle, lower seat height making it accessible to shorter riders, liquid cooling making it better for hot or urban settings, and higher performance for more speed and better handling than the bigger options.

My Scout Twenty is a keeper. I think I will go with it if the Rogue was out. The Rogue seat the the fairing are to my liking and I am planning on getting them both. Indian makes a great looking bike. Sure it can be better but better means more money and the Scout is right at home as is.

I would literally only have to change 3 things on my scout bobber....to make it a rogue scout... 1) handle bars 2) quarter fairing 3) 19" wheels How is that any better? Even.. the price point between both the scout bobber and the scout rogue...clearly points that out.

Go to your Indian dealership and get a quote for parts and labor for installation of 10" bars with cables, the fairing, the 19" wheel and tire, and the new seat. Then come back and let us all know what that would cost.

Indian has been so overwhelmed with Scout orders that dealers just can't get unsold inventory into the showroom. Everything coming off the production line already is pre-sold. Unfortunately if you want one you will have to order it at your dealer.

As someone who is planning on getting the scout rogue I'm actually very happy they didnt add the touch screen. Its something that jumps the price up for something I not only dont care for but something id imagine is just another thing to go wrong. I'm sure in the future it wouldn't be hard enough to have the touch screen as an additional option and I think that would be the best route for them.

The chief and the scout have different enough looks to warrant them both existing as is imo, and if that isn't true for Indian, well, upgrade the chief even further and make it even more appealing... As someone interested myself, but also considering my options, nav/touch, cruise control is my main real grievance, and concerns with the amount of back complaints due to short travel suspension on the rear.

Thank you! I just think Indian needs to realize that people don't only choose the Scout because it is less expensive. They choose it over the bigger bikes for the high-reving higher horsepower engine, for how nimble it is, for the lower weight and seat height, for the liquid cooling, etc. Just because you want those things in a bike doesn't mean you don't want good range, or storage, or cruise control, or GPS. Many people will spend the extra money on a Scout with premium features.

I'm disappointed to see Indian still using these outdated analog guages on the Scout. It's 2022, all bikes over 10k should have either an LED or TFT display with rider modes. I know some people "prefer" analog but you're preferring an inferior instrument.

The thing I was trying to address in this video, is if I had no Scout, and wanted to buy one today, which would be my preferred choice and why. That's all. I love all the Scouts, and they are the same core motorcycle, but if I bought one today, this is why I would choose the Rogue.

The LED headlight upgrade is super easy and not expensive, and I agree, Indian should just do from the factory now. No one wants halogen anything anymore. I never thought about fork covers... it would probably look pretty cool!

@@RidgeRoamer no. Sadly all "throttle grip modifications" (except the whole grip exchange) are not legal. They need to proof the safety at TÜV and other stuff to make it legal. And til now none of these locks passed.

The Rogue compared to the Octane has different fender styles, different wheel sizes, different handlebar style, etc. If you mean it has a similar flyscreen to what Octane had, you are correct. Otherwise the Rogue is as similar to the Scout as the Octane, which makes sense because they are all variations of the same platform. And HD released the new Sportster S to compete with the Indian FTR, which came out in 2019. Neither bikes are cruisers.

To each their own. I like all the colors available and would have a hard time choosing. Custom painting a motorcycle like this is fairly inexpensive though, so that's always an option to get a color you do like and a unique bike that no one else has.

It's not a new bike. It's a new variation of the Scout, just like the Twenty. It's just nice to see Indian offer more variations to allow an easier starting point for modifications in certain directions. It's still a Scout and no one has claimed anything different.

Yes I agree with you...they could have done so much better building a new bike bigger engine. The bobber is a excellent bike I love mine and I ride it like I stole it I've done alot of work on it and made a little race machine...I just think they should have added another new bike to the fleet....
