I've got a 2021 Indian Scout (with ABS). I got a Corbin saddle and pillion seat, Dean Speed sissy bar, and progressive 444 shocks. My wife loves the ride AND i've taken a buddy of mine (another 220 lb dude like me) on a 45 mile trip and there was no problem riding 2-up. The Scout has plenty of power to handle 2 up riding and keeping up with (or passing) California traffic.

I just figure i had a 1600 kawasaki and it was great for going 85 all dat long but then when im just puttering around the grocery store or moving it in the garage it really sucked to muscle around so i think theor 1200 indian is a good middle. I started on a 150cc in the msf course and my first owned bime was in 2016 it was a 1983 honda 650 and it had enoigh peoer for my area but it wasnt as nice to hold 70mph long term. I also had expirience on a honda grom and a 2000cc kawasaki that was the bigger version of the 1600 i owned. It was even better on the interstate but so terribly heavy at slow speeds. So to me the 1200 is an interesting niche because itll be enough you defiently can go across the country but not too big where i csn still move it arpund the parking spots a lot easier. But the wuality hasnt seemed to drop and i notice the smaller the engine tends to be a lower quality bike so you pay a lot but you get some real quality esspecially if you can snag a good enough deal used. Youre right i bet its faster just because its a scout its not built to go cross coumtry from the factory. I kean it is but yu might want a saddlebag and luggage rack, heated grips a winsheild, highway bars for more spots to stretch your legs, indian charges a lot so beforr you knoenit the 12k bike costs 17k before sales tax and everything else it starts to be way too much you coulda bought a softtail standard with nothing on it. The issue is im on a budget and in usa we need big enough bikes its nice if i can sell it to a guy who knows he can easily ride it all the way home at 85mph like as if the bike was born for it. A klr 650 at 85 youre like "i should be going 60 maybe 65" klr more capable offroad and cheaper. If i hage to drive 3 hours on an interstate to get to a particular type of specialist in healtjcare or elsewhere for example, its nice if i have 1 bike that can do as much ad possible. Turns out this isnt easy becsuse different tasls have requirements that are at far extremes to others so a indian scout isnt going to do better than a tw200 in a sandy wash. So i think about saving up for multiple.bikes but its less smart because i need a location to keep them and i pay more for two bikes both depriciating. Doing the math is important to me. You have 2 or 3 bikes an you need a plot of land that to put your toolbox shed and extra tires oil etc, suddenly maybe you break your finger and gave to go to the hospital for an emergency surgury. They gotta collect like 10 experts on fixing fingers and now you got all thes ebikes you need quick money so theyre trying to screw you for less and less when you sell. They ask your final offer you say 6 and they say butnhoe about 5 and yoy were like bro all the others are worth 8! I hate knowing im walking into the bad end of what is allegedly a "negotiation" the mona lisa is worth way more now than it was back before the light bulb was invented man. We should be thinking careully with diligence. I like hindas rebel 500 in terms of consumer value but i cant bring myself to buy it new eventhough i can afford it because ill buy it and put 500 miles on it and itll sit in the garage and a year later they will only pay me 4500 max. Its losing thousands in a year. Thats rediculous. That is poverty hidden in the cracks and crevices. The money just leaks away overtime suddenly its gone. There is things I can buy that dont do that 😂 problem is rarely does trnasportation make you money and not lose it unless its for business purposes if youre competitive about it

Sold my '21 Scout 1100 with fewer than 1,000 miles. The bike simply did not feel planted at speeds over 55 mph and wind blast was terrible. Tried the usual fixes: better suspension, multiple windscreens, aftermarket foot pegs, different riding positions--all to no avail. I've been riding for 60 years on two dozen bikes and this was the only bike I couldn't adapt to. May try the Chief next with hopes the extra weight will add stability (and rider confidence).

My Super Chief Limited with stage 2 and Lloydz tune rips around town and mountain twisties effortlessly. Need to pass on the highway, just a little flick on the throttle and you're there. Neither are great for passengers. Even with the backrest, passenger feels cramped after an hour on my SCL. Maybe adjustable passenger pegs or floorboards would make it more passenger friendly, but as of today it's nowhere to be found for the SCL.

I love the old original Indian v twins. So beautiful . I'm very interested in the engines and any weak points. Isn't there a pinion with plastic teeth? It don't remember but the guy on you tube who works on them stripped an engine down and mentioned it. They are expensive and I do like those FTR1200 too but the big torque engine is lovely on the thunderstroke but I ask you American bikers who know American machines so well. I love the Triumph Thunderbird 1700 LT. It's a superb parallel twin that's not well known but seems to be one of the nicest cruisers ever made that's modern and some Victory machines seem very durable and well built.
@RobertoBren Жыл бұрын
@@Ian-bq7gp The Indian Thunderstroke engine is ultra reliable whereas the chances of having a breakdown in the first 4 years for these bikes are Ducati 33%, Triumph 29% , Harley Davidson 26%, Victory 17%. The Japanese bikes are all between 11% and 15%. So there's a chance the Triumph will run into some costly repair bills soon after buying it.

I did the Indian demo rides last weekend. I did not like the Chief or Sport Chief. The Super Chief was better. I currently ride a Scout Bobber with a Saddlemen Seat, and bars are on the way, i have the Pathfinder headlight installed, and sissybar also on the way. When i rode the Sport Chief, I had it in my head it's going to be way better than my Scout. But it's harder to lean then the Challenge somehow. I love the way the Sport Chief looks, but it didn't feel natural. Now with more forward controls and the bars tilted back, (I'm 5'8) it would be more comfortable at least. But i think the Scout is a better rider.

I know it's weird, but the Scout with 10" risers, a fairing like the Memphis Shades Road Warrior, and hand guards turns it into one of the sickest looking bikes. Throw a Thrashin' Supply handlebar bag on there with a speaker as well as some bags and you're solid for some serious miles.Yes, it's the basic Dyna setup, but hell if the Scout isn't the Indian version of the Dyna. I think Indian will start to take over as the go to American cruiser brand.

I kind of look at it in terms of which is a better American crusier. The Scout is a better small-ish crusier than anything Harley-Davidson has. It's way better than the old Sportsters, the new Nightster is similar enough to the Scout preformance wise but the Scout has much better asthetics especially the Rogue which I own. But if I wanted a bigger sort of club-style bike, I'd probably pick the Low Rider ST or even just the S over the Sport Chief. The Sport Chief is good, but the Harley-Davidson is a better buy because it's got a bit better performance with the 117 M8 and the fairing and bags on the ST are nice. But I will say the Ride Command stuff in the Chief is really nice and it's too bad Harley hasn't thought to Integrate something like that on the LRS/ST. Basically I think the Scout dominates it's class for a small-ish neo-retro crusier and the Chief, while far from a terrible bike, doesn't.

Many similarities and yet many differences at the same time. The Chief will appeal more to Harley riders - has that same shove in the butt very low down. But the Scout is the faster & more sporty-handling machine and is 100lbs (thats like a teenage pillion) lighter. So the Scout will appeal more to ex-sportsbike or even Adv bike riders. I bought my Scout new in 2017 and 6 summers later I still haven't found anything worth trading up to. I'm 6'2, 233lbs and the standard Scout suits me fine for 200-mile days. Beyond that I'd take my BMW RT. I bought the Scout to slow me down, but the chassis is so good and the bike handles so well even on the standard Kenda tyres (in the dry, anyway...) I have never fitted alternatives and enjoy chasing sportsbikes. But I live in the UK Our roads are tight & twisty and and the tarmac rough & full of potholes. I rode the Scout Bobber when it launched and dismissed it because its only a bit better than my old hard-tail chop was. Very cool, though... I live the TS engines, but I think theyre better suited to bigger bikes: the LC Scout engine is efficent and packs a real punch. All that said, I wouldb't recommend the Scout as 2-up tourer unless youre both... comoact riders. I ride solo and I intend to keep mine until Indian launch a Scout with the Challenger engine 😎

But you both being bigger guys, you have missed the main sales point of the scout. It's aimed at women and smaller shorter riders, Indian says 5'2" in height but height means nothing its your inseam thats important. I'd put the scout at a 27 or 28 in inseam, maybe a little less. The chief is more of a 29in or 30in min inseam bike. So the scout also is for for a lighter rider 170 lbsor so on high end. Thus excelleration is fine at low rev's. I own both a scout and a chieftain classic, and at 5'6" but short legs 29" inseam the chieftain is realy at the point i am just barly flat footed. An inch more leg would be great, even a extra 0.5" might do.
