Honourable mention to Odette from Australian Survivor on this one At final 13 the Asaga tribe of 5 consisted of a two vs two clash between Luke + Jericho and Sarah + Tara, with Luke and Sarah both being exposed for trying to blindside each other in a chaotic tribal council that had its vote cancelled for no reason at all. This left Odette as the crucial 3rd vote needed to get the votes together, but after Odette refuses to pick a side, Sarah recognises the merge is likely only 1 vote away and that she just needs to survive the vote to potentially make a deep run, so she convinces the boys to join up with her to blindside Odette unanimously in the interest of tribal unity (as they were going into the merge with a minority) as well as playing to Luke's paranoia that he could go if he left his fate on Odette's hands. This is of special interest to me because unlike cases like Boston Rob or Rob C's moves against flip-floppers where the swing vote did still stick with them, Odette actually voted against Sarah, meaning this master play in strategy actually saved her game as she would go on to get 8th

The problem with being the swing vote is that you're going to betray a group of people, such as Kass immediately burning five people by flipping to Tony's alliance to getting out Sarah, this is good if you want to be the goat to be dragged to the end but if you want to win you really need to work extremely hard to do damage control

not really, Cirie was the swing vote in Micronesia and used her position to form the final 3 alliance within the alliance of 5, and also used that position to vote off Yauman. Tony was the swing vote, pretty much every vote in Cagayan, flip flopping between the two sides, it all depends on how you play your cards.

I don't quite get how rob would be gone by plurality if Jenna and Heidi voted for Rob while Rob and Matt voted for Christie because then the vote would be 2-2 With Kristy and Butch's votes still unaccounted for. At most I see it being a 2 or 3 way tie but not a plurality vote. Can someone please explain?

I think he’s talking about if Christy voted for Rob as well. Christy, Jenna and Heidi’s hypothetical votes for Rob, with Rob and Matt voting for Christy and Butch voting for Jenna, means a 3-2-1 vote with Rob going home.
