We went camping with our teardrop trailer to Cape Blanco State Park and explored Port Orford and the surrounding beaches. Here are five things we love about the Oregon Coast.
Note: Please be aware of Tsunami watches and warnings. The Cascadia earthquake/Tsunami is overdue in this region.

Ha ha loved the clamshell set up. Thanks for sharing the realistic side of things. It’s good to see the struggles as well as the highlights. The fog was so charming. It made the hikes look so dreamy.

Quick tip for the clam shell, look for the “flower” which is the roof then use your foot to stabilize stepping on the bottom part while pulling on the wall. My struggle is to usually find it first . Hehe.

I love your videos! Always positive and happy, which we all need more of. The clam shell shelter will be a nice addition for changing clothes, getting out of the weather, etc. When I get my teardrop, I opted for awnings on each side, and one will have a zip on room and floor that will serve the same function. Happy Birthday!

Thanks so much! Having the awnings on both sides is a great idea. We might also consider that in the future. We'll be curious to see how you like your new teardrop. Thanks again! 🙂

Great video. I have a small RV I bought new in 2019. It's a Geo Pro 12SRK, 12 meaning 12 ft long, S sofa bed and RK for rear kitchen. I'm in my 4th camping season up here in northern Alberta Canada and love this little guy. I've been watching most of your videos and you hit all the great parts of teardrop camping. I now have 127 nights in my little trailer and have had no real issue with it. I also have the exact same Clam Quickset shelter as you. I will tell you that it has been a life saver in keeping the bugs at bay, I cook in it during heavy rains and store a lot of my stuff in when camping. It was enjoyable to watch Mike try to set it up for the first time, lol. I will let you know if you tie it down on the 3 sides, that shelter is not going anywhere. I was in a huge wind storm, 30 mph and gusting to just about 50 mph and it stayed put. I purchased 10 steel heavy duty tent spikes on Amazon as some of the places I go you pretty much are try to pounds these into rocks under the ground. Plastic tent spikes just don't cut it. Anyway, I'm enjoying you videos, thanks for sharing. Yes, I did subscribe, 👍

Hi Pat, thanks very much for subscribing and watching our videos. We appreciate it. It sounds like you have a lot of great experience with teardrop camping and enjoy it as well. That is a very good idea to get the heavy duty tent stakes; we will look into buying those. We haven't heard of your teardrop model. We will be curious to look it up. It's such a beautiful area up there where you are. We hope to get up there camping someday. Thanks again!

My family has always enjoyed the southern Oregon coast a little better than the north coast as it is less crowded and you get more open space away from the Portlanders who overwhelm the small communities up north. Happy birthday and hoping that the new shelter works out for the two of you. Peace!!

Hi Peter, it was indeed nice for it not to be so crowded. We loved our trip there. We can see why you like it too. Thanks for your comment and birthday wishes. 🤗

What a great birthday 🎂… camping 🏕 in your Teardrop. It looks like it’s worth the trip from central California… save us a spot!:-)

Hi David, It's definitely worth it! We already want to go back. If you do go, we were interested in the campsites in the 40s; they had peekaboo views of the ocean. 🙂 👋

Hi. Fun video. I’ve been thinking about getting a Clamshell for some time. I just can’t make my mind up whether to get the 8x8 or the 12x12. I am a solo camper with an Aliner trailer. But I’ll have my family and four grandkids this summer camping. Any thoughts? Your looked awfully small.

Hi there, the smaller clamshell might not be big enough for several family members. We think it's best suited for 1-2 people. However, the other issue is storage and transport with our smaller trailers. Would the larger clamshell fit in your set-up? Happy camping! 👍🙂
