Looks good. We had a lot of trouble with our awning. Hope yours is better. But it is good now. Took it back 5 times. Next to the last time I was driving it out of the dealer’s lot and I heard all this screaming. I thought I ran over someone or something. It was the awning it started to come halfway out. If it had happened just 10 minutes later I would have been on the interstate driving. You better believe we stayed the night in the parking lot and they got a different guy to work on it. We have had no other trouble. ❤️

Beautiful family. Glad you make it home safely. Just an FYI, you should have the engine running when operation the slide outs and the leveling jacks, not just having the ignition on. It's important that the modules and motors have at least 13.5-volts. 75% of all slide out and jack problems are due to low voltage. I would leave the engine running. Safe Travels.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
That's good to know! I can't run the jacks without the engine on, but we can run the slides. It's kind of annoying that we'd have to have the engine on to operate them every time though. I guess it's just annoying here in the driveway though and it'll be a more regular thing to have the engine on when we're actually traveling in it.

I do not know if anyone else responded to this but I will make mention of this. When you open the slides, you must have the engine running. The 2 motors draw alot of power and the slides olerate off your chassis battery, not the house batteries. I found this out buy doing the same thing. I would turn the key in the on position and open the slides. They will work a few times and once the brain for the slides drop to a certain voltage, the slides will not work and you have to reprogram the brain. I jad this happen and had a servicr tech come out to me and knew what it was as soon as I told him I dont always run the coach engine. He reprogrammed the brain and drilled it in my head to ALWAYS run the engine while doing the slides and leveling jacks. I have a 2018 Fleetwood Southwind 35K. . I really like your floorplan, I to have met Matt. Awesome guy and you will be happy with your new toy. Congrats Dean Hiles

Sorry for missed spelled words, fat fingets, lol
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
A couple others have mentioned it, and it really is a pain in the butt! Does it matter that it's plugged into shore power at all? I know that the chassis batteries are kept topped off through a converter, but is the issue that the slides can drain the battery too fast for that to matter? Also - is it just a Fleetwood thing? 😜
@deanhiles96594 жыл бұрын
@@Five2Go It does not matter if you are plugged into shore power. The slides draw alot of amperage and require the engine to run to keep 12+ volts. My brother in law has a Diesel Pusher, 40' Winnebago and he to must run the engine while operating the slides. Must be an industry standard. Now, anytime the key switch is required to be on, I stert the engine and I have had no issues since I do that. It actually is in the Fleetwood manual as well to run the motor. Best of luck on your adventure full timing with 5. My wife and I started full timing in August and loving it.

It was really fun seeing your kids reaction with it. They are going to have quite the adventure coming up! Stay healthy!Meanwhile, back at the ranch...….still deciding Class A vs Class C. We are not in a mega hurry as I'd like to defer a purchase until after Christmas. There is only 2 of us and a german shepherd; so we don't need quite as long of a rig. But....when you shorten it up, the layout suffers :-(
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alan! If it was just Erin and I fulltiming we'd probably be in a small A. I think C's are great for vacationers but they don't have enough storage or living space for full time use really.
@campingalan4 жыл бұрын
And hello back to you! Ok....cool.....great considerations! Did you ever find an RV show in the west here that was conducive to comparing motorhomes. I think I recall you mentioning that motorhomes were not very prevalent at the front range dealers.At this point, I don't think we'll be full timing. What I envision is doing 1 month trips-ish that fan blade out to the different sections of the country; starting mainly out here in the west. And example would be 1 month in CA, then come back to Ouray for a bit, then maybe up to the Pacific NW and back for a bit.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
We didn't have much luck finding a good selection of motorhomes out here, that's why I had to fly all the way to Florida for this one. One month trips sound awesome! That's a good amount of time to see a bunch of stuff without being too pressed to head back home.

Nice rig. Make sure you get a Progressive Industries Surge Suppressor. Get the built in one, not the portable one. Whatever you do, don't lock the hood. Those locks are cheap and have a tendency to get stuck at the wrong time.

Never saw such a great setup for parking your rig at home. Did you do that or did one of the previous owners? Great looking unit. Get some SnapPads for your jacks. You can thank me later, lol.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
I've heard good and bad about those. Why do you recommend them?
@jeffdurling1004 жыл бұрын
Five2Go I haven’t found any bad myself. Recycled rubber tires so they are very durable. Saves the needing to go around and put pads under each jack and make sure it is aligned. I read a coup,e of older reviews where some had them tear,but the newer ones haven’t done that and I doubt will. They also give you about an inch of height which provides extra protection for your jack pads from getting bent, etc. The con I can see there is reduced ground clearance. From your video your jacks look to have good ground clearance so I don’t think you would have an issue there. Like your guys we came from a travel trailer except we decided on a class c. I remember blocking the jacks on the trailer and glad I don’t have to do that anymore. Anyway, enjoy your videos and your journey. Be safe with this mess going on and safe travels to your family.

Push the computer tray in until it clicks and it will stay in. Then when you want to use it you push it again and it comes out. That is our issue with it coming out.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
I figured out that it has a click-in latch thing, but nothing I did kept it from sliding out. It's like the latch just doesn't hold it in hard enough. I'll probably tinker with it more next time I drive it.
@007KrausBean4 жыл бұрын
@@Five2Go Hmmm, that stinks. I have a 2019 Bounder with the same tray and was pulling it out all the time rather than push to let it unlatch. Now you need to add a Ranch Hand type of similar steel cage system to protect in the event of a crash. Other than the older Bluebirds that were all steel or a Super C, class A RVs of today have zero crash protection. I know that was a concern of yours in another video, so what made you choose this one, which is no different? Not being negative, but this has always bothered me about motorhomes. I was intrigued to see how devastating even a minor hit is on these as walls and cabinets are usually collapsed into the front cab. Manufacturers tout steel or aluminum-framed structures, but they're wrapped by walls of thin wood and a fiberglass veneer.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
We're still concerned about it, which is why the kids will be riding in the van with Erin on moving days. Plus we're not going to be moving as often or as far as we did before (which was roughly 16k miles in the first 12 months). When we made the video you're talking about the plan was to get a rig for vacation travel so we were all going to be in it together - that's not the plan for full-time use. Fleetwood uses square steel tubing in most places of the frame, but with holes (like the windshield) as big as they are it isn't going to matter if the crash is bad enough. @@Five2Go yeah it's too bad we ( as in we consumers) can't get these manufacturers to do the obvious and engineer structural crash safety. First thing I think of a these large refrigerators that are barely anchored. In an offset crash, they'll fly forward with nothing to stop 'em. When I was a kid in the 70s, my parents bought a new Sportscoach. At the time, they were thought to have been structurally sound. I can tell you from experience that there's really not a lot, if any, improvements to RVs today. Until the government forces it, it'll take a company to add the expense and market themselves as the first and only to build with an accident in mind... similar to what Volvo did years ago.

TexasAggie There would only be diesel pushers if they added anymore weight at all.
@texasaggieproud4 жыл бұрын
@@StevenPendleton well that's certainly true, but the power plant choice to me is irrelevant. Diesel pushers aren't any better from my perspective of structural integrity. I mentioned Blue Bird above due to their steel construction up until around '96 (I think) and currently, the Super Cs. While the Super Cs will still have the same "walls of wood and fiberglass," at the same time, they at least offer roughly 5 feet of hood and engine protection. I'm the total opposite of a big government proponent, but at least in the auto industry, crash worthiness is one of the few areas where government mandates achieved a positive result across all models. The RV industry has PLENTY of financial room to implement their own program and still remain successful.

Lovely home and a lovely family. Living my mother's dream with all the gingers. She was one and wanted one but got a blonde and four brunettes. I married one for her though. I can't wait to see your rv once you've sorted it for your family.

What’s your vector Victor? Like the rig. We have a Lance travel trailer now but eventually we want to get a Class C. New subscriber. 👍🏻

Give me a vector, Victor.

Haha! That's not where his name comes from though. Brian is a graphic designer so when we adopted two dogs we named them Pixel and Vector. Pixel doesn't travel well so she stayed with his Mom, but Vector is the best road dog ever so he has gone everywhere with us! 😍

Nice RV! Are you selling your house? Keeping it or renting it out? When is your target date for getting on the road?
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
This is just a rental and our lease is up at the end of June. This is actually our second time going full time - the first time around we sold our house, all the furniture, the whole nine. That was in November 2017.

@@Five2Go Oh wow! So why did you rent this house and how long have you been in it?
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
Just a year. After being fulltime for two years we thought we wanted to settle down for a bit. After two months here we realized how wrong we were! Back on the road for us! 🤣

How is it that you have such a clean, uncluttered garage? 🤣🤣
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
The garage is clean because we moved into this rental house with only what was in our last RV. Our last garage before going fulltime the first time was definitely not this clean! 😂

Where will your kids be sitting while your driving? Or will you have a car that one of you will be driving and the kids will be in that while you are driving?
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
The oldest may ride in the rig with me in the passenger seat but the two youngest will always be in the van that Erin is driving. We don't like the lack of safety features and added danger of driving a Class A, especially when it comes to having small kids in car seats in them.

Why didn’t you buy a Diesel RV? I thought Diesel is more reliable than gas.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
They're WAY more expensive and we don't need the extra capacity or other benefits of a diesel. They're also a lot more to maintain. Keep an eye on our channel - we just finished filming a set of videos with our friends at Grateful Glamper where we compare our gas rig to their diesel rig and go through a bunch of pros and cons. Those videos will be up next Tuesday.

Some RVs require the engine to be running when operating.
@Five2Go4 жыл бұрын
The engine has to be running for the stabilizers to operate, but the slides just require the key to be turned to electric. A few other Fleetwood owners have said that we should run the engine when operating the slides because of voltage drop issues, so we'll probably start doing that.
